Can someone seriously justify the Black Hammer nerf?

I really don't see why this is getting nerfed at all. Who can convince me? It makes no sense...

    Bungie are crying coz we beat all their crappy unimaginative bosses too easy. Instead of patching the Black Hammer/ gjallarhorn they should just design more interesting boss mechanics, the prison bosses are the worst bosses in any video game. Boring bullet sponges who just throw minions at you constantly. Yawnz

  • Because it was starting to become a better option compared to an ice breaker and even having the power and perks of an exotic, anyways if you want to keep doing the constant burning down on bosses technique, I guess you are going to have to buy some special synth

        • I understand to avoid speeding through bosses, but the nerf is just a bit too much. The perk basically removes the need of reloading. I mean, it'd still be one of the highest dps sniper rifles.....but dislike the change. At least icebreaker will be more relevant?????

          Basically Bungie wants you to struggle through bosses that are bullet sponges instead of taking them out as fast as you can with your infinity ammo rewarding good accuracy sniper rifle. They are trying to artificially make the game last longer with out actually adding content fit players to enjoy and when they do add new content it well be gimmicky and over priced to sap your wallet with a death ray.           • Nerfing Gjally so people can't carry others as easily, plus nerfing things like Ice Breaker and Black Hammer that can help players who don't yet have Gjally. Bungie doesn't even make sense. I don't see how they are helping anyone. If you're a new player and you get Ice Breaker you're -blam!-ing pumped.

          • Slightly too good of DPS for a legendary. The nerf was horribly done though. 3 crits return ammo to inventory or only price once every x seconds. The current nerf makes the weapon effectively useless compared to other similar snipers.

            • I guess it was that it felt like an exotic when it was just a raid tier legendary. It was never meant to be better then Ice Breaker. I don't see the point to the ice breaker nerf though. I don't often run into a person using it in PvP. If I do I generally avoid that sniper zone because snipers are hella annoying.

            • Remove infinite ammo so we can't keep the bosses stunned forever which will increase the time spent on each boss. Forcing people to spend more time to complete tasks.

            • The argument that Black Hammer is better than exotic snipers so it should be nerfed isn't a sensible one. Fatebringer is better than most exotic primaries in PvE, should we exclusively nerf that as well? In PvE, the only ones that would be (situationally) better are Bad Juju (fast supers in certain sections such as Crota maze, Oracles), Universal Remote (if you wanna bumrush in dragon strikes) and Vex Mythoclast (solar burn). Even then, Fatebringer is still a much better all-round primary than the above 3 due to its lightning fast reload and splash damage. It takes a dump on every other legendary primary in the game. So nerf the Fatebringer then. Where's the consistency? Fatebringer is the best primary PvE in the game making all other legendary primaries obsolete. Nerf it Bungie. With the Fatebringer one can breeze by the add spawn content just as easily as the BH does against the stationary bosses (that makes it 95% of the game mind you). In fact, the best possible PvE loadout (not counting burns) is Fatebringer / Black Hammer (shottie for short maps) / Gally. So you nerfed 2 of them. Nerf the Fatebringer too. For the record, I have multiple Fatebringers. I just want to see Bungie be consistent in their reasoning and nerf the single most powerful PvE primary in the game since they nerfed the best RL and best sniper.

              • The gun performed at an exotic level which no legendary should do. It will still be a top tier legendary sniper after the nerf

                • It makes phogoth, the devil walker, goliath tank, wretched knight, and gulrot way too easy. Plus you can sit back and never take any risks in a lot of situations.

                • Bc it and Icebreaker trivialize PVE content, and Bungie can't come up with creative ways to make the encounters challenging and dynamic than simply making things bullet sponges. So...gotta remove the weapons that counter those dynamics to bring back the challenge.
