I can't refute the electronics part haha, but I don't think that relying solely on the Middle East for oil is a viable option. I don't deny that the U.S. Could survive without Canada, but I think that whimsically dismissing the things it does ship there is a mistake. 37% of the oil used in the U.S. Comes from Canada. The Middle East on the other hand comes in just under 20%. The cost of importing overseas is exponentially higher than simply piping it by the millions of m^3 over the border. You're also using a lot of Canadian oil to manufacture the electricity you have as well. Perhaps you'd survive without Canada, but prices on everything from gasoline, diesel fuel, propane and your monthly electric bill would increase tenfold.
