An ode to the Vault of Glass

It was early on in my Destiny career, i was but a mere new born in this bold universe. I had braved through the story, destroying countless followers of the Darkness. It was now time to venture into the unknown. The Vanguard had unveiled a secret so dark and so evil, that the great Kabr himself was lost to its clutches, a long lost Vex vault was recently reawakened, and as Kabr and his elite group of Vanguard Guardians ventured into this dark vault, the truth was revealed... The Vex were more powerful than we had initially known. It was time for a rescue mission, to save what was left of the first guardian battalion. We activated the 3 pillars long enough for that infamous gate to lift itself once again, like it was inviting us. We faced a number of trials, the being known as the Templar tested our will to survive and our will to destroy the darkness, it ultimately failed and we ended its existence. Its destruction opened a 2nd door, and its path led us down to the very labyrinth that claimed Kabr and his crew. Tales were spun of that day, some said that the mysterious constructs that inhabited the Labyrinth simply killed them and vaporised them into the dust that covered the floor, but some believed a more sinister truth, that these Gorgons as they came to be known as, erased Kabr's crew from time both past and present, leaving no trace of there existence. It was there that i found a golden rocket launcher, glistening in the corner of my eye, off to the side in a half opened chest. It was here that i found the fabled gun Gjallarhorn, an ancient Guardian relic, filled with immense power, said to be the number one Darkness destroyer. I strapped the weapon onto my back and we continued through the darkness. The journey was treacherous, countless days were spent deep in that Labyrinth, we had gotten lost on the path previously mapped out by Kabr before his untimely demise, but it was useless, as most of his writings were illegible. Stuck in a hole so deep, that not even light could reach the bottom. It came to the point where we had gone mad, our heads filled with the whispers of the vault, attempting to convince us to find the Gorgons, and let it be all over. I had become overwhelmed with the whispers and decided i would take matters into my own hands. I pulled out my Invective shotgun, and put 2 shells into the side of a Gorgon. It became crazed with anger and began to sing its song of death. Everyone instantly snapped out of its dark embrace and starting pelting it with all the fire power they could muster but somehow i knew it wasn't enough, so i unstrapped the Gjallarhorn from my back and fire 2 rockets directly into its centre eye. It was destroyed. The piercing noise it emitted stopped and we were left there, standing in the deafening silence, the whispers had stopped. Suddenly a great light shinned upon the exit, and we left that dark and evil place forever. We ventured through the linear cave, and reached a chasm. Every few seconds, a pillar would materialise in sequence, then disappear. It took a few minutes, but we learnt the sequence and jumped onto the first pillar. The adventure across the chasm was very dangerous, as a slight mistake would result in loss of life. As we crossed this chasm, we approached a door. It recognised us as guardians, like it was inviting us home for the very first time. There stood a gatekeeper. We knew this gatekeeper had to be destroyed, and it knew somehow that we would, yet he invited us in and didn't shoot a single round. It fell, and portals began to open. 1 man volunteered to run in and see what was behind it. I didn't know why i expected to see Kabr walk out of that portal with the guardian that walked in, i just did. Kabr did not walk out, instead the guardian jumped out holding a shield of light. Was it created by Kabr? Was it an ancient relic of the vault? It didn't matter, at least not now, it seemed the vault was helping us, because surely it wouldn't let this weapon be wielded by us, the guardians. We retrieved a second shield from the opposite portal. A conflux stood between us and meeting the great host of this vault, and we knew we weren't about to leave without first saying hello to it. The conflux exploded into a small ball, and this ball was Atheon, and Atheon was summoned by this great Vault. We saw a remnant of a guardian blade, sticking out the left side of his left leg. It was Kabr's. Atheon rushed us and teleported 3 of our men into the future like it was nothing. We knew that we had to open a portal to them, but which one? We opened both of them, wondering if they even survived the ordeal. They dramatically flew out of the portal with another shield, and activated a shield dome in the centre of Atheon's throne room. We blasted it with our remaining fire power, i knew i still had 2 rounds left in Gjallarhorn, so i pulled it out, reloaded it, fired both rockets, and watched as the rockets melted him down into mere dust. It was over. Kabr and his guardians had been avenged. We knew the vault's name, given to it by the Vex who created it. The Vault of Glass, we don't know how we knew, it just came to us as we struck down Atheon. But there was a problem, the Vault of Glass hadn't reacted like we thought it would at the loss of its Master. The walls didn't crumble down, the glass triangle in the back of the room didn't crack, no instead the Vault sat there, almost like it waited for us to leave, so that its Master could return. EDIT:1 thanks for the feedback, added paragraphs :)
