I don't know if I can blame it on this generation of kids, I know many short sighted adults of my generation. I can't usually let it go either. Usually I'm an asshole in response. The back and forth gets the post continually bumped and therefore more views and more comments. Also, I enjoy angry arguing. It'll probably give me a heart attack.
