An event where you have to go into a strike playlist that's leveled higher for difficulty (level 34) and each strike has random modifiers much like nightfall/heroics. All are possible except the nightfall one, and heroic should always be on. Maybe even exclude matchmaking due to the heightened levels, that's up for debate and I'm indifferent. All engrams dropped from enemies should be from TDB and Vanilla weapons will drop at the endgame reward screen. No rolling them is allowed as they are old guns, you get what you get.
Maybe they could use the Speaker or something also to sell buffs to increase drop rate of engrams, or increase chance to get a specific gun type at the end game screen (sniper rifle, assault rifle, hand cannon, etc).
Maybe instead of it being on a timer it should last for so many strikes instead, like 5 strikes have increased chance or something.
Etheric light may also be purchaseable during the event from the Speaker, based on how many strikes you do, since you'll have to upgrade these weapons now. Maybe after every 10 strikes you can buy one for 5k glimmer.
I think this is a solid idea to help give the game steam during this lull until September, and it doesn't even require much effort, and will be loved by players.
What do you all think? Discuss ideas or changes you'd make, if they sound solid I'll include them in the OP.

I like the idea... Give us a chance to get old weapons that we wanted but never dropped.

This is actually a really great idea. I would be all for it. I think it would be easier to just put them back in the loot tables. There are certain places (like tiger strikes) where old engrams can drop, so they still exist in the code. I just wonder why they decided to go about separating items into two distinct tables and preventing one from appearing at all. I really don't understand removing the armor. If they did weapons due to reforging, I can somewhat understand, but many people kept their old legendaries and in some cases can now have a slight advantage (final round snipers). I don't really care about the perks of the gun, I just want to see more variety. I'm tired of getting the same guns/armor over and over.

Good idea, maybe you can get hired next, if this is your first idea, it's way better than what's been done so far.

-blam!-ing great idea dude, I'm all for it. Hope bungie puts this into the game, I'd be all over it lol. Want my damn nergial servant

Very good, maybe the speaker can sell a set of vanilla/TdB/previous vendor items (similar to brother Vance) and after completing 9 straight strike without a single death will grant you and your team the ability to purchase them.

I'd love an excuse to burn marks and glimmer on a wider variety of goods. What would also be nice is if we had a Bazaar of guns and gear in the area of the tower the Iron Banner sets up. Once a month there needs to be stalls of older equipment and interesting vendors. Toss is some fun vanity items and whatever else have you, and you have a regular money sink. And of course, this should be a limited time gig with wares that rotate, but with wide selection. Hopefully the Tower isn't zoned in such a way that we couldn't have an interstellar flea market.

Year 1 guns will soon become irrelevant. What's the point?
-
YES YES YES YYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS
-
I would be happier if they just swapped the op guns into vendor rotations.

They should be sold at the special vendor for marks and glimmer
