Etheric Light

EDIT: READ THE EDIT AT THE BOTTOM BEFORE SAYING SOMETHING STUPID. I'm here to set the world ablaze. 200 Vanguard marks for 1 Etheric Light 200 Crucible marks for 1 Etheric Light This would have an automatic weekly cap since you can't earn 200 a week. Boom. Best idea ever made. Bring it. EDIT: I want to thank everyone for their support for this idea. Even the people who disagreed politely. I have no illusions that this idea will ever be implemented, but it's still nice to see that I'm not the only person here who thinks this could work. Thanks again for the support and keep bumping and liking this post. EDIT: Etheric Light is no longer viable as Bungie has lost their damn minds and won't be allowing us to ascend legendary gear.

 • I agree, but with respect, I believe you've got the pricing set a bit high, OP. An Etheric Light improves a HoW weapon about 10% more than its base. It improves a TDB weapon about 10% over its original max, and an original weapon about 20% over its original max. This is true both of the simple attack power numbers and the hit numbers you'll roughly see if you run tests on your own. An entire weapon, the most expensive thing for sale, costs 150 marks from a vendor. Why would I pay 200 marks to improve that same weapon by such a comparatively small amount? To be proportionally in line with what Etheric Light *actually does*, the cost should be more like 15-25 marks, or about the same percentage that it improves the piece, if you follow. I mean, really. Etheric Light and the way that it has been implemented is very poor. Seriously, it is THE only reason I run POE 34 and 35 anymore. In addition to always dropping in POE, and at all levels, it should have been buyable with either marks, as you suggest, or Motes of Light or both. Motes of Light would probably be the more consistent choice now, consistent with the way that materials from dismantling used to be recyclable into upgrades and now they're not. Etheric Light should have been dismantleable for rep or exchangeable for glimmer or another token type (again, Motes or even weapon/armor parts being the obvious consistency choice), if only to stop the humblebraggers from groaning about how much excess they have. Overall, Etheric Light is the same grind that planetary materials used to be before they wised up and changed it. That's all it is and exactly what it is. A boring, repetitive task--a cheap trick, cheap in the same way planetary materials were and are--for a marginal improvement to your gear. Getting it is the same as running circles on planet farming routes used to be on release. To think of it like this big expensive thing or some badge of an elite player is just making a mockery out of the idea that it was even worth the effort. It should be changed in the same way that planetary materials were changed--gettable by a wide variety of means rather than only one.
