(TL;DR at bottom)
It appears some of the rank and file need to be trained in civility so I shall address it plainly.
Our dear community is horrendously misrepresented by an assemblage of ignorant try-hards. Their unchecked voices have officiously spoken on behalf of a great many who, not only may disagree, but have detrimentally done so without objectivity or reason. To put it simply, we the Destiny community are generalized as trolls; just as incoherent, ignorant, and vicious as those found elsewhere.
Are we not better than that, my fellow Guardians?
To voice one's dissatisfaction is absolutely acceptable and necessary if Destiny is to be successful as an Intellectual Property. Anyone who adamantly proclaims Destiny is without fault is inherently delusional. And as an accredited Intellectual Property, Destiny must satisfy or otherwise placate its growing player-base or risk failure. Yet this cannot be done from listening to unintelligible caterwauling. To have a defined voice to engender change, a prospective Guardian must submit to civility; they must speak with concise deliverance, weigh their words with tactfully written prose and sound reason if they are to ever be taken seriously.
Within the minority, it's believed Bungie listens despite what may seem as being inattentive or negligent. And as it so happens, I'm in the minority. However, I believe Bungie's attention is limited, restricted by the confines of their own community. The Guardian Malcontents that misrepresent the community are barbaric in their protesting. Together, they eagerly hurl abuse at Bungie for an infinite number of reasons, disparage and insult any Guardian who disagrees, and use such inflammatory speech it borderlines on harassment. It is tragic that the wholesale judgment of this community is defined by such unbecoming barbarism.
This, my fellow Guardians, is why Bungie "doesn't listen". They comb through forums looking for what players desire and are instead met with far too much derogation. Imagine, you trying to do your job only to have a never ending torrent of insults thrown at you, told repeatedly and aggressively you preform so poorly at your occupation that people want you fired or replaced. And then, once you try to make one step in the right direction, you are scolded and vehemently reprimanded for "not being good enough" and then told you are an abysmal failure.
It is a crude way of behaving, even if you hate Destiny.
TL;DR
Bottom line: If you've something to complain about, please, for the sake of civility, do so with a measured demeanor and give substantial reason as to why. It benefits no one to stir uncalled for hostility, least of all Bungie or Destiny. Better yet, provide actual feedback if you want something changed. After all, that is what that section is for my fellow Guardians.

you make a very well written post and have a valid argument. however, you kind of lost me at "ignorant try-hards." had you refrained from labeling and stereotyping others, your point might have maintained some credibility. to me, the notion of anyone being a "try-hard" is laughable. attempting to label another gamer as one who takes it too seriously and tries too hard to succeed at it is illogical in a progression based game when everyone shares the common goal of in-game success. the term is used exclusively by those who are not as successful in order to try and shame those who outperform them. call me a dinosaur, but i cut my mmo chops in everquest where the choice was simple: try hard or be a scrub. zero consideration was made for casual gamers, so either you joined a guild that did progression raids every night, or you accepted your fate. enter wow and we so-called try-hards poopsocked our way up and down raid content for years until blizzard decided to nerf progression enough to allow casual raiders to have a sizeable piece of the pie. now gamers are entitled and expect to have top tier items and have even gone so far as to make up derogatory names for the most motivated gamers calling them elitists, poopsocks, try-hards, etc. tbh, i think it's hilarious and would take any of those terms as a compliment to my playstyle. i don't see how anyone can be considered a try-hard in a game that has no actual raid content. 3 man groups, 5 man groups? elle oh elle. the best content we have ever had in destiny is comparable to a wow heroic just for the sheer fact that it requires what is considered a single group worth of players to clear. rest assured, as long as progression based games exist, there will be those of us who have more time to invest in them and as such may have an increased incentive to be successful at playing them. attempting to insult anyone else for having more playtime and/or an increased desire to be competitive in a specific game is childish. TL; DR good job on showcasing your grammar and vocabulary in an effort to justify your position, but your point is lost due to your apparent hypocrisy. upon further review of your response to others in this thread, you find it agreeable to insult others but are quick to dismiss them when they say something that you deem offensive. communication doesn't work that way.

A lot of people have provided reasonable, thought out feedback just to be ignored. You can only be ignored for so long before you throw "measured demeanor" out the window. Also, you're kind of an asshole for telling people how they should feel and react to something they have negative feelings towards. A lot of very articulate posts go ignored on these forums daily. Don't get me wrong, there's also a lot of useless shit from screaming children. In closing, you can't jerk people around like Bungie is doing and then expect us all to hold hands and sing Kumbaya. Some people feel truly disheartened by how this game has evolved and you have absolutely no right to tell them how they should act or feel. Bungie created this mess and now they are reaping their rewards.

Good post! Thanks!

If bungie were actually responsive to us, replied to us, and gave us what we wanted IN A TIMELY MANNER, id be nice and civil But they're slow as shit, they dont care, they have useless updates Theyre scrub developers

Really, it's not the Destiny community in general that are considered trolls but the forums. Go anywhere, watch a stream or youtuber or even reddit I believe and you'll find a reference to these forums being the worst part of Destiny.

You, my friend, have just done the very thing you are deriding all the others about, in a subtle passive-aggressive manner. Though you couch your remarks in seemingly lofty language you are no better than the barbarians you accuse. Think about it.

Edited by AlexisRivera: 8/18/2015 7:45:05 PMMany people in here have taken the time to post and defend well reasoned and written arguments since day one yet they have been met by Bungie with the same silence as the more rant based posts. Its Bungie's fault and a failure on the part of our community manager. Deej could have deigned to speak on the forums to the more reasonable arguments more often so people would notice that polite concise posts were much more likely to get answers but he didn't he has been way more active on social media than here (Where he should at least make an act of presence routinely) and people resent that a lot. Bungie has isolated itself to the point that it doesn't have any sort of direct contact method to field/manage the complaints. No email support, no chat, no phone support line either. That would have taken some of the anger out of the forum. I have no sympathy left to offer to those that paint themselves on a corner and the numerous rants on the forums tend to agree on many points. If you are in disagreement with the rants, make the time to post more your way. Perhaps you might bring a point none of us have considered yet. That said do expect some anger based responses this community has been neglected enough to sadly be inevitable at this point.

Wahhhhh wahhhhhhhh

Much agreed. I recall a time when, in order to insult someone you had to be near them (or on your house phone) which had consequences. I also remember when kids didn't ram my ankles with a cart at the market while their "parent" is too involved with their iPhone to care, or they scream at you for daring to be injured by their little hellbeast. Lastly, I remember when trophies meant something, achievements were gained through work and cheating wasn't the order of the day. All I can think about when I look through this circus we call our community or the news, is that I wouldn't be surprised if Terry Crews was elected this year for president.
It's got electrolytes!
Very well stated, my fellow Guardian. This community is very toxic, and overall, immature. I put up a post last week, and it got over three hundred responses. Guess how many were negative. There was one guy who continuously trolled me until I put him in his place. When he realized that he was intellectually outmatched, he began threatening to have Ninja Justice come to his aid and get me banned. I for one respect everyone's opinion on these forums, but the trolling has seriously gotten out of hand. Hey, this is the internet, but have some decency. If you want to talk shit, be ready to get the shit, because there is always someone out there who has your number. Respect will always go a long way. Respecting others is also a good indication that you respect yourself.

Well there are those who are just baiting you into a one sided argument that have no real point of view other than your wrong (Fanboys). There are those who obviously have either a limited vocabulary or intellect to engage in a real debate so they sling insults instead. There are those of us who never grew up mentally beyond the ID th think the world revolves around them. There are those who are young (Teen rated game, targeted to adults) who haven't grown up. Remember that these are usually far and few between in the Feedback section. I don't venture from it to avoid most of the unpleasant posts. Is there still some hate here, yes but by far it is easier to ignore. Even DeeJ said that hate even with bad language is still feedback. So his response to the community is that it still matters so keep it coming. So they are kind of fueling the fire instead of saying that posts like those will be removed and those voices will not be heard.

Another one of these internet etiquette posts...

Thank you. You put this better than I ever could.

Funny, I was just reading a posting that Cozmo replied, and had to make a comment because of what people were posting about his post. What I said was:
Cozmo, I feel for you when B.Hats do things like what hey are doing to you here. If I could suggest something for your own forums, since there are so many trolls, and we can "report" a comment, how about an option that allows us to hide anything a troll ever posts. Maybe, let it be a counter, that you have to report someone as a troll with 3, or some other number, of times before all comments from that troll will be hidden from your view.
If you want to know the post. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/147441705/0/0 But you are right on, and I would like to see a way to limit, or severely restrict trolls. While I have no problem, with people poking fun at something that was said, I find it disrespectful when a person is only sowing discord by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages and does not try to produce any real intellectual conversations with substance.
-
I don't think this does anything but enrage the very people you are trying to reason with, most are children and don't care, others are just put right upset for a multitude of reason, I'm one of them and even in my rage I always have a point and most of the time people agree, pretty much only fanboys dont
-
Well spoken, though try being in the brony community, some of the stuff people Can say about you can be horrible. Anyway off topic, I actually wasn't aware of this level of hate at bungie and the destiny community, probably because I have only just started talking in the forums (despite having destiny since launch). Well it is just something people are going to need to learn to ignore. We can make a difference but it will take time and patience.
-
Finally someone who doesn't insult everyone while acting like a caveman, waiting to bludgeon the ideas of others until they feel stupid for an actually good idea.
-
Holy s*it. Bump
-
-
Bump. I completely agree.
-
This sounds very well spoken when read in a British accent.

This game is riddled with ignorance. Every time I try to help someone out I get pounced on by haters, its gotten to the point that I don't even bother to acknowledge the level 6 270 grimore score guardian on patrol near me. Many of them end up not finishing raids or PoE because they don't know how to be social even in a limited social environment. All friend lots of people but I'm forced to edit my friends list due to the fact that many of the older people playing this game never learned to play well with others in the sand box.

*tips hat*. Well said. Well said sir.
