Allow me to compare evolution to geology. We can see mountains rise a little tiny bit as time passes for us. Logically, we have no reason to believe there was a dramatic change in the mechanics at work in the growth of a mountain: plate tectonics. So we can assume that the mountain has always grown like that, rather than suddenly being there and growing slowly after that. The same goes for evolution. Though it takes long periods of time to see these huge changes, longer than many human lifespans, we can still see the small changes and accept that that has consistently been how it works as the most logical explanation.

Edited by SSG ACM: 7/13/2015 8:20:18 PMSo you suppose that those rates have always remained since the beginning? Tell me, why would you suppose that these factors would remain constant in an acclaimed ever-changing world? Unless there was a worldwide phenomenon that affected the growth rate, sure, your thinking is accurate, but if not, the Darwin lobby has to form an opinion. Cheerio.

this is the most gentlemanly argument on all of the bungie forums.

^_^
That's nice to see. I've had worse cases, but it is nice to see calm debates.
Edited by Autolycus: 7/13/2015 8:33:56 PMThe world changes, the mechanics don't. Unless we have a solid reason that they do.

Yet we don't. ^_^
Not even a theorized one.
What exactly is your point?

Atheists seek a natural cause for an obviously tangible case, but they're still stumped on origins, and when they come up with a theory bordering sci-fy, it isn't observable.

You assume many things. Reason can be applied beyond the natural world. It can deal with metaphysics just the same, though it's pure reasoning, rather than evidence based reasoning. The rules do not change until we have reason to believe they do.
