Lots of very ugly stuff happened under Reagan. The selling of weapons to Iran to fund brutal terrorist organizations in Central America is not something to be proud of. He vetoed a bill against Apartheid in South Africa. The War on Drugs has been a cataclysmic failure that has severely damaged the country.
Reagan did do some good stuff. Relations with the Soviet Union were good. He almost achieved a complete reduction of nuclear weapons between the two. His views on gun control would be blasted by Republicans today.
Reagan's a divisive figure for sure. No doubt he left a bigger impact than most presidents. I find it's very rare to talk to someone that doesn't have an entirely skewed view of Reagan. Interestingly Ronald Reagan Jr has been, from what I've heard of him, a really balanced critic of his presidency.
