Ultimately, follow your friends. I moved from Xbox to PS4 for 4 reasons: 1) PS4 is more powerful, 2) Xbox's terrible PR prior to launch, 3) at the time, PS4 was $100 cheaper, and 4) exclusive developers Naughty Dog and Guerrilla Games. With Bungie making Destiny cross-platform, the sting of missing Halo was minimal. As far as PSN goes, it's been down a few times, but mostly because of Lizard Squad. I was on XBL for years and I feel PSN's reputation is exaggerated. If I were moving from 360 to a new console now, it would be tough to say which I would choose, because Xbox One is so cheap and familiar. I was the first of my friends to adopt the new gen of consoles, so it was up to them to follow or not. So again, ultimately, what are your friends playing, and are they happy with it? Answer those questions and you have your answer.
