I would recommend the PS4.. Mainly because I'm a "fanboy". But since you already have a Xbox I would go with that. I'm not 100% sure of your progress with transfer. But in the end it is a personal choice. If I were you I would do some research to find the pros and cons of each system and see which one is more you cup of tea.

It will transfer if he gets an Xbox. It really depends on whether he wants certain console exclusive because, let's face it, both consoles are good this generation. They have upsides and downsides, but in the end they both get the job done
