The original PS2 was marketed as a home entertainment system because it could play DVDs. PS3 because it could play BluRay. Sony did a very good PR move while Xbox were messing theirs up and changed their tune and instead of the usual all in one entertainment system they said it was a games console.

You are right but when people learned that the PS2 way a beast gaming console it skyrocketed in sales then it was marketed a little more as a gaming console. Man now I wished I had kept my PS2 I loved that thing so much and had a Hella time playing battle front and red faction.

Don't get me wrong I loved my PS2 but it wasn't a beast of a console. The original Xbox was much more powerful and literally was a beast (thing is huge). I still have mine since no emulation exists and the controller is not bad with replacement Xbox One sticks :-)

Edited by i TM4n: 7/9/2015 9:30:54 PMWhich the XB1 is starting to do also. I think it has more to do with the price drop tho really. Has been a trend that the console with the cheapest starting price tends to do well.
part of the reason why the PS3 sold less than the 360 initially. It caught up a bit more towards the end
Edit: forgot to say I also miss all my old consoles and games, I wish I kept them all but I would have no space anywhere
