Is Bungie at fault for the mass cheating in Destiny PvP

From Lagswitching to laggy servers is crucible really a fair match? I personally have emptied 9 thorn head shots into a titian only for the titian to then punch me for a one hit kill. Is it the players fault for lagging, the servers fault for not communicating the hits, or is the entire PvP system design at fault? First let me start with those whom lagswitch and never get punished by bungie. It's rather easy to spot a lagswitcher because the connection status with be good until they close in for close quarters then it goes bad until they have kill everyone. Why does the lagswitch work? The answer is in the flawed designed of the PvP system in which there is communication between PS4s and the processing of late packets. A lagswitcher knows that if they prevent the communication of a hit long enough that the packet will be disregarded so they either manipulate the physical layer of the network or use a software filter to block packets long enough so your hits don't count then they engage for the kill. Being you're not lagging they get the normal 2 head shots or 3 body shot kill, however you can unload entire clips into the laggy player with no damage. This is straight up cheating and being that it's obvious that a player only lags when it puts them in a favorable position bungie should be able to do an analysis and ban those violators. One can only guess bungie doesn't care enough. Next you have the mod'ers, or guys that modify game files or packets to get an advantage in the game. Almost every game can be modified at some level and is usually done by a software or jail broken system. You can see evidence of this in Destiny crucible. Because of the peer to peer connection it seems as if players have hacked player data to increase hit points. The reason to speculate is seeing a player that takes 6-9 thorn shots and each head shot only does 1/10 the damage when 2 thron head shots should kill the target. But seeing this doesn't mean that the player is a modifier as the server can also error in favor of a player. Normally when you play a lot and you get a round where you have to empty an entire clip into a guy to kill them players refer to that as being nerf'ed. So proving the player modified the data and was not an error on the servers part is impossible to prove for an end user. Next you have Destiny Servers glitching. Where warlocks blink jump then never appear on the screen or radar for several minutes... then appear after they fire their shotguns at you. You have characters that don't appear at all until you are killed.... You have players that move extremely quick while all the other players are moving at a bogged down pace unusual to the character settings. You have the servers dropping the connection or showing multiples of the same characters going in every direction. What's worse is you can tell when Bungie is going to do an update because of how bad the service lags in both PvE and PvP just because they refuse to buy enough resources to handle the active content and systems to roll the new content opting instead for taking systems out of the active side for testing and rollover. Next you have those that take advantage of being the host PS4 by DDOS attacking PS4 systems or simply turning off their router to make your team and them leave the connection, giving their team the win. People that just take advantage of the flawed design of the platform. The reason I bring this topic up is I've noticed that it has slowly gotten worse and when you hear people talk trash about a K/D ratio it becomes comical knowing how the system has been manipulated and those cheaters have a major impact on others stats. If I run out of primary from firing so much because the server lag coupled with the lack of secondary ammo is a massive negative impact on a players stats...several time I've found myself with out any ammo until I died to get more primary. Bungie states that they would only give good connections for trials and this has also been false. So is Bungie complicit for doing nothing?

  • Bungie has responded to this post in a private message directly to my email account. They stated that they are taking action, that it is an intensive investigation process and those cheaters that can be proven are banned by either a temporary or permanent manner. That all the listed cheats that I have disclosed above are on their list of what will get people a ban. I will note that I saw a lot of cheating in the first 3 days of Iron banner which was after the response on 30 June 2015. Then finally on the fourth day I was getting correct hits for several games. I think we all want a fair and competitive gaming atmosphere so hopefully Bungie will develop automatic tools to put temporary ban on those accounts suspected of misuse for shorter windows like a half hour. Basically giving a time out that could resolve internet issues that appear to give you an advantage so other players are not abused by lagswitch like games caused by bad connections.
