About to upgrade to PS4, how does it work?

So I finally have enough money to get a PS4 and Destiny. How exactly does the upgrading process work? As long as I sign in with the same PSN ID, will I have all of my DLC available to download for free from the PSN Store? Could somebody give me some advice?
