No, he is right. Old Norse predates Icelandic. The historically correct pronunciation of the word from the Prose Edda in the 13th century is yaw-lar-horn and you kind of swallow the n at the end.

Like how you speak English but would be unable to speak Old English. He doesn't even pronounce it the way other Icelandic people do. It's like taking the word of someone from Massachusetts about how to pronounce chowder.
