Hm. It seems we might have an interesting possibility on our hands then. Did the flood never consume them? If I remember correctly they were living near a lot of precursor artifacts, specifically star roads.

Edited by Valkyrie 497: 7/2/2015 5:06:19 PMYes there were, but any Precursors in the area had been completely wiped out by the ancient Warriors during the Forerunner's genocidal campaign against the Precursors. Those Forerunners in the Spider nebula are the descendants of those Warriors, and the isolation from any other form of sentient life has left them highly primitive in nature, no longer capable of constructing some of the more basic machines, such as motorized transportation.

I see. LoA said they were all killed by the firing of a greater halo on my other comment, so it seems those forerunners are dead after all.

Ah. I haven't 100% finished Silentium yet, but I did notice that the Halo was fired in the direction of that part of space. However, I was under the impression that it was more of a highly focused beam than a standard firing of a Halo. Pity, since I would have absolutely loved 343i doing something more with them in the future.

Same here, would have been interesting. Silentium is definitely one of my favorites out of the halo books, it's got a lot of interesting stuff in it about the fall of the forerunners.

They're dead. The Master Builder fired a Greater Halo right at it.

Well, there's our answer. Looks like my initial comment was correct then

Not exactly. The array being activated didn't kill them.

I see. What was a greater halo again?

A Halo produced from the Greater Ark.
