Just saying, the Allied army under Dwight D. Eisenhower slowed down to allow the Russians to take Berlin as an act of diplomacy.

I don't see a source but I believe the doctrine or belief then was that the allied forces had to make it to Germany or things would be more difficult later on, and they were.
