I've served America in the armed forces but I don't think our country is better than anyone else's country. I think countries are only as good as the people in them, and I don't think any society of people is better than another society. There might be a man in germany who would dive into traffic to save your life. At the same time there might be a man in America who would just stand there and watch. Three days later it might be reversed and the guy from Germany just stands there while the American dives into traffic to help. There are good people everywhere regardless of their ethnicity or what country they live in. It's a phalacy to think one country is better than another country. And the only reason you think that way is because they made you stand up and praise a flag when you were too young to know what your country's motives were. They made you love your country before you were old enough to know what you were doing. And just the idea that my consciously country tried to brainwash me before I could even tie my shoes is bothersome to me. I'm not some crazy anarchist or anything but I don't appreciate that. Because they purposely try to get their hooks into you while you're still at a young and impressionable age. If you wanna be a patriot that's fine. But I have trouble taking anyone serious who just follows blindly and never thought to question the propaganda tactics that governments use on their citizens. Some people are ok with following blindly and never stopping to think about that. And god forbid anyone speaks out about the things their own country does. They practically shun you as a blasphemer. But sorry... I'd rather be someone who thinks for himself.
