Domination is an objective-based game type, whereas Control is Team Deathmatch with a useless objective tacked on to force people into killing one another in the same 3 areas.

I've seen teams win without capping points so I see why you feel that way. Bummer. I suggest Skirmish if you really want a different PVP experience.
