I'd say no checkpoints. I have gotten to Skolas pretty quick but have a bit of trouble beating him. After trying for a couple of hours and having people drop off because it's late, makes it tough to try again for myself. I've had him down to the mine phase a few times but ended up getting wiped. I still never beat him yet but try like once a week. I probably need to git gudder.
