From the Dadmins,
At midnight June 26th 2015 we began a 48 hour stream to honor Josh Stokell of our community and to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis, we gained the support of many streamers and members of the gaming community to put on this event. What we witnessed over the course of those 48 hours has left us beyond speechless. We watched our community and the larger gaming community pull together and support this amazing cause in ways that we could never have imagined. It was our honor to organize this event to remember Joshua Stokell and raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis.
To all of the viewers, donators, and sponsors of this event we cannot thank you enough for making this event the overwhelming success that it was. You reached out and made a difference in the lives of many people in the last 48 hours, our only wish is that you don't wait until the next event to continue to do so.
We would like to share two of many comments that were made in the last 30 minutes of the event to show you the amazing impact that you had;
“TheSquashPhD: this is Josh's girlfriend. I have been watching and reading the majority of this event stream since it started. I just want to say thank you to everyone who participated to make this charity event happen - all the moderators, streamers and donors. The passion of Josh's life was CF research and awareness and you all honored him by doing that through this stream. I don't know a lot of you but I am forever grateful to each and every person who contributed in any way. I also want to say that I was not into video games ever but my respect for the gaming community has increased immensely because of your love and support. Josh would be so proud and humbled. He is living through the awareness which you all spread and through the love and respect of the gaming community. He is a legend, an inspiration and a guardian. love him forever and love you all. I will be here till the stream closes but may not have the courage to type much without him sitting next to me.”
“Khimarhi84: Just wanted to say thanks again for this amazing stream. It was for your friend Josh. But it's inspired me to keep pushing. Sometimes living with CF you feel like you are always losing but things like today... they give me strength. So you not only helped a good cause you also helped me. Thank you!”
Those are just a few of the responses that we have received, and the continuing love and support is truly humbling. As of the time of this posting, we are very pleased to announce that the total raised is....... $!2,000.00!!!!!
That's right, read it again: $12,000.00! And for those of you that prefer it in word form: Twelve THOUSAND Dollars!
None of this would have been possible without the incredible support from the community! Thank you so much for being the greatest community out there, for stepping up to honor our fallen brother. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Here is the video that will forever remind us of Josh Stokell (TheSquashPhD): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VipqzK6_LBU
Please also look at these to learn more about Cystic Fibrosis and Josh Stokell. Just because the charity event is over does not mean that we should ever forget this amazing man and his battle with the disease. Again, thank you for your continuing, unwavering support.

Edited by XmajorPUFFEN74X: 8/1/2015 3:02:32 PMNow this is the type of thing that i like to see int the Destiny community. After first hearing of his passing and of the passing of other Destiny lovers, i had an idea that I recently posted in # community that is called " An idea for a in game memorial " or something close to that, I forgot now. Lol. Anyways check it out , I think it would be a great way to honour " the Guardians of light" that have been taken by the darkness. If you like the idea or have your own thoughts on it please feel free to add them to it and maybe spread the word. I think would bring a personal touch and extra meaning to the game for a lot of people. Edit: It has been moved to feedback.

This truly makes me proud to be part of this community. Having lost my sister and another who recovering a lung transplant because of CF. The way the community came together and after reading this , I broke down crying with hope and pride. I wish to say thank you to everyone

This was most definitely a community effort and I can't be more glad to have been able to participate with my clan and this amazing family of guardians that we call the Dads of Destiny. May the money we raised and the information brought to viewers be a blessing to those who need it most.

So proud of everyone one on here

Congratulations to everyone who donated, to everyone who made a difference. Along with the DoD organisers and Destiny players who all made this possible. Not forgetting the support from both Bungie and so many of this communities Gaming websites. Without you, none of this would of been possible. I and X1 Euro would like to add our thanks.

Goes to show I am privileged to be part of a real strong community when we all can rally around and make a little positive out of sad loss especially when most of us might not of had the chance to play with him we all feel the sadness as he was one of us

Well done to all who organised, donated and took part. You guys are a credit to the gaming community. See you all again next year???

Phenomenal accomplishment from all involved. I for one would have stopped playing this game a few months ago if it wasn't for my clan and in turn this community. (For UK residents $12,000 is £7641.66, depending on exchange rates.)
