What keeps you from completing PoE 35 (Skolas) every week?
What's your biggest beef with Skolas? I remember having this pressing need to do Crota every single week without fail, and have a full set of raid weapons and armor for 2 characters, it's not an issue of difficulty.
I don't do this with PoE and actually have not completed Skolas yet. Why? [b]For me it's mostly the checkpoint[/b], I just don't have that kind of time to play most nights; add in the fact that the rewards are really not any more attractive than doing the level 34 in [u]much[/u] less time and using that etheric light to ascend an older raid weapon that's basically better in every way.
Edit: On further thought maybe it's 60/40 the lackluster rewards and not the checkpoint that discourages me, though they are really the same thing in a way: if I could pick it up again the next day at a checkpoint, the effort is less onerous. I'd like to see a single checkpoint right before Skolas (non-sharable) to save a lot of frustration from network issues or time constraints. It's far less demoralizing to say "OK, gotta, go, let's pick this up tomorrow", than "Well I just completely wasted my night."
Edit 2: For all you MLG ballers who solo it in an hour, more power to you but the site won't allow me to add another option now. Suffice it to say that this topic is not really intended for your particular demographic, which is suspect is the minority of Destiny players.
Edit 3: If your answer is "I do it every week, git gud," then please choose which option you think would make it more appealing than it already is. For your purposes, "too difficult" would equal "takes too long".

Rewards, i want to get a solar handcannon, and a void scout rifle from skolas (they look sick and have great overal perks) but the drop rate is soo low, its not worth the time and effort, i have all 3 new exotic bounty weapons, so there is nothing that encourages me to play it.

I've ran 35 prison of elders a few times ( never finished it ) with a bunch of different groups it just seems that either there is a problem with communication or the people don't know what they're doing or people have to leave and we have to start all over really feel like there should be checkpoints there's checkpoints and the raids and those were end game activities !!!

The best thing you can get is the elder cipher, and the ship and shader and all that is a one time thing, and other than that you get the armor core and stuff, and the etheric light, which you can easily get from 32 and 34. So all you're getting from skolas is a crappy queen weapon, chance of getting exotic from the chest, and getting kell stuff from variks.

3 Repliesmissing an option. I have rarely found ANY ONE doing it. No one does it that posts on the forums that wants to do it. Since its only a 3 man its so easy to fill your fireteam. THose that ask only want Max Galley or TItan only. I dont have a Gally so i can never join those elitest groups. I have done it before since the patch and its so easy to pull off . Just a bit of a grind to get to him and burn him down. Sadly most people wont stick it out for what are considered rubbish rewards. if there was a better chance of any random exotic dropping it would be appealing for people do it more.

1 ReplyIt isn't worth the effort. People either aren't skilled enough, or don't have the time. People have quit every time I got to Skolas, and we were never able to beat him (we got close, and the last guy alive had to get off)

i play with real life mates (yeah people do have them!) and we're not all on at the same time for the amount of time needed to complete it. checkpoints are needed!

It takes 45 minutes to get to Skolas. Getting by him is the issue for most because they don't communicate well or know what to do. Last week, I joined a couple of buds who said they needed help and they know I've done multiple times (pre/post patch). I needed the cipher points to I said why not. We get to Skolas in about 55 minutes, one wipe at the arc round. This was their party so I sat back and "took orders" as we did our thing. We have no trouble getting the bonds broken but that's where the issues started. Communication on the poison pass and first set of mines cost us a couple of times. I finally step up and take a little charge of the directions. With that, we get to the second set and I (as a hunter) go invisible and go to take out the mines. The leader starts yelling at me to kill Skolas and not worry about the mines. I go, "huh?" He then tries to tell me the mines go away when you kill Skolas.... I then ask, have you actually completed this before because someone who completed it would not say that. He was adamant. Come to find out, he did do it once but it was pre patch Gally-ville and he was the stationary one who didn't worry about the mines. My other fireteam member backed me up on that finally. Moral of the story, know what you're doing.

The time commitment is first and foremost.. with no checkpoints is quells the ambition to run it. Couple that with underwhelming rewards for completing it... utterly pointless.

Takes too long with out a check point. If one person makes a mistake, you're done. I've gotten him down to a sliver multiple times to come up empty, so now I don't even bother.

It's boring and honestly not worth the rewards (I have 11 weapon cores in my vault and 12 Etheric Light), plus I already have what I wanted from it (Solar Hand Canon)
