US minimum wage $7.25 US dollars
AUS minimum wage is $16.87 AUS dollars (or $12.93 US dollars)
It takes a US citizen 5.5 hours of work to buy TTK
It takes AUS citizen 5.4 hours of work to buy TTK
With a marginal 6 minutes difference (in AUS favor) I would say the prices are pretty fair.
who in flying -blam!- makes minimum wage? how poor are you idiots?
-
And the cost of living in Australia is double as well, get your facts straight moron.

Edited by Tosevite 187: 6/29/2015 3:54:56 PMIt makes sense if you buy from a local distributor but why can't Australians just buy it on eBay with USD via PayPal for the lower price? The reason I ask is I never really have been out of the country and I'm moving to Denmark for a few months soon and want to know how this works
-
What does minimum wage have to do with anything? I buy something from overseas, (maybe something on eBay for example) and the price conversion based on the dollar is made, I pay my money and make my purchase, why should this be any different?

Ooh GG rekt
-
Without looking it up, I would assume it has something to do with a tariff.

you're a bloody gallah mate

It makes sense, considering most of them are descendants of criminals..
didn't read your post at all, just wanted to insert the jab ;)
It's because Australia is still living in the dark ages. I think I saw a dinosaur in my front yard this morning
-
It's more expensive in Australia because the guys who deliver the game frequently get attacked by drop bears.
-
It's because the Kangaroos we ride cost too much
-
There are several reasons why tech costs more in Oz. Oz economy... Oz isolation... (It costs more to ship things to Oz) Oz population density... AND Because companies can...
-
You're seriously using that to explain the price difference? How much is TTK charged for in Mexico? In Brazil?
-
google cost of living top 10 countries it might help
-
It actually takes me and hour and a half of work to earn the CE but hey that's just me...

Then explain to me why DLC in Australia is marked up by a pretty standard 25% For example, a $20 DLC in the U.S. Is $25 here. Current DLC is that price and even Destiny DLC is that price. So if TDB and HoW both cost $25 in Australia and TTK is twice the price of the previous DLCs, why is TTK $70 in Australia? The exchange rate hasn't plummeted, and other DLCs both past and present haven't seen a dramatic increase like this. The simple fact is TTK markup is both an isolated and unprecedented increase. You can get a new game for $60-$70 here. And what's more troubling is that other regions like New Zealand and UK have similar unprecedented markups. So, would you care to attribute all of these foreign regions having a similar, unusually high markup to being a coincidence? There's a reason non US markets weren't complaining en masse about the previous DLC prices ... because they weren't over priced. TTK is overpriced.
-
I have literally only seen people from the UK complaining about this, not Australia. This is just common sense.
-
LOL PEASANT WAGE. your feudal lord wants to know why supper isnt ready yet.
-
Can we turn this into another why America is better thread? That'd be cool.
-
I haven't seen anyone mention of it yet but shipping and handling also plays a part in pricing in different areas. Even if you buy the digital copy you are still paying for the hard copies being shipped over. They factor it into the over all cost. You know they won't ship with normal carriers or packaging either because we have all seen the crappy condition those boxes arrive in. Surely our aussie gaming brothers are used to paying more for shipping. But I do sympathize because shipping alone does not warrant such a large price difference
-
You know that the cost of living differs in each country right? So by that the baseline of wage is set. The higher the cost of living the high the wage baseline. In other words your whole logic is flawed.
-
you also seem to forget VAT and GST if they apply then Australian pay lots more.
-
WTF is this minimum wage thing you are talkin? You think ppl earning minimum wage would bother with console gaming?
-
Are you retarded. You actually think minimum wage is the reason they pay more. Stupid ignorant idiot.

Good troll mate AUD is worth less than USD Any company in Aus can put you on probationary wage (usually 9 dollars an hour) for an indefinite amount of time. They can also fire you for no reason within 28 days of begin the probationary period.
