EDIT: READ THE EDIT AT THE BOTTOM BEFORE SAYING SOMETHING STUPID.
I'm here to set the world ablaze.
200 Vanguard marks for 1 Etheric Light
200 Crucible marks for 1 Etheric Light
This would have an automatic weekly cap since you can't earn 200 a week.
Boom. Best idea ever made. Bring it.
EDIT: I want to thank everyone for their support for this idea. Even the people who disagreed politely. I have no illusions that this idea will ever be implemented, but it's still nice to see that I'm not the only person here who thinks this could work.
Thanks again for the support and keep bumping and liking this post.
EDIT: Etheric Light is no longer viable as Bungie has lost their damn minds and won't be allowing us to ascend legendary gear.

I love these ideas. But nothing is ever implemented. Look at our dusty auto rifles.
-
Actually a really good idea. Doubt it will happen though. A buff for auto rifles would be a good idea as well but doesn't look like it'll happen
-
How about make it 100 so 1 per week, personally I think Xur should sell it for 5 coins as it only upgrades exotic legendary items. Think about it.... shouldn't exotic shards be more "exotic". This stuff is just another way to grind for things you already have.
-
Considering you get one from 34+ PoE on every character ( averaging 6 already ) then if you just do Trials you've got a high chance of getting them too, Mercury or not. I think the system of etheric light is fine. Even if you only have one character. Still you can get a good amount per week. There has to be something to keep you playing before the Taken King.

Good idea

Etheric Light FTW!

Boomer!

It's a cute idea and all but the real question is...why did you input the ghorn grimoire code if you don't have one?

Edited by Cooper: 6/28/2015 6:09:07 AMThe first time I can support a different way to obtain EL. One per character per two weeks is not too much and automatically capped and at least I and a lot of others would have something to spent their marks on which now reside at 200 because no one needs the materials in huge amounts anymore. I personally have no problems getting EL but this would provide a way for those who have. I just would bind it to someone being level 32 as a requirement so that you can't skip too much content.

Edited by Phathas: 6/28/2015 6:28:00 AMNo. Etheric light essentially has the same value Raid Armor did. Your not supposed to be able to hit the level cap doing activities a level 20 can do. You earn your "END GAME GEAR", be it gear with the max stats built in or upgraded your current gear to max stats, by playing endgame activities. There's already 4 ways to get etheric light, and you can earn up to 12 in a normal week based on SUCCESS, and not RNG. Though in a Iron Banner week and a lot of luck out of a Nightfall, you can earn like 21. I don't think it be a bad idea to increase the means of which to get them, or likelyhood, just not make them part of a low to mid level activity reward. They're an endgame reward and should remain that way.

I have 35-40 Etheric light. I'll sell them for $2.50 a piece, 5 for $10. Get at me.
-
Wow, some wank stain went through and disliked every single post of mine in this thread. Wow. Some people have nothing better to do.
-
I have more Etheric light then I know what to do with. But still think its a good idea for people who dont do both Trials and PoE

Bump bump bump
