You need to join a clan if you want to find teams for Prison of Elders; it makes a lot easier. I find games by posting on the wall for the Xbox One & Xbox One Raider clans, and there's also some handy threads in the Recruitment forum which are dedicated to finding teams for specific activities on specific platforms. Add those to your Favorites so you find them easy whenever you need a team.
That said, Bungie does need to add more ways of earning Etheric Light... especially for those who prefer to play solo. Maybe make it so that the first Daily Heroic of the week gives you a piece of Etheric Light? Kind of like how you're guaranteed 1 free Treasure Key a week for your first Queen's Wrath bounty on any character.

Oh and the clan thing. I can't do that. I have a clan that is full of IRL friends. Can't leave them. Even if most of them don't play anymore. lol

You know you can join more than one clan? Just sign up, and you can post on their wall if you need a teammate. I'm a member of 3 different clans on Bungie.net; two I use to find teams for PvE (Xbox One & Xbox One Raiders) and one I made with my friends just to give myself a cool nameplate (Autumnal Progeny).

Oh wait. That's true. I remember I was a member of some other group once. I left cause I got tired of seeing that I had messages. And when I would check it was just them talking in the group forum, chat, or whatever it's called. I was like, "Why does it say I'VE got messages when no one is actually talking to me?" I just didn't like that. lol

If you never play endgame content, there is no need for etheric light, though.

If you want to play endgame content (which most people do, if only for the rewards), you need Etheric Light.

Yea. I think getting 1-3 pieces of Etheric Light from the chest in the matchmaking version of Prison of Elders would be an awesome answer as well. Or have the Iron Banner a lot more often. Who knows when they plan on letting us have it again. But thanks. :)

Iron Banner might not be that far away; the last one was June 2nd, so I'd hazard a guess that the next one could be either June 30th (if we're lucky) or July 7th.
