Although this is an old, already discussed problem, I believe that we can still change. I feel that the majority of players that play Destiny are under the appropriate age for shooters. I think this age should be 18 and over. I'll give you a few reasons.
1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword.
2) It causes anti-social instincts to grow. When you think about it, the average session a child will play in Destiny is three to four hours. That's three to four hours where the only communication the are getting is with people they have met over the Internet. I don't want children growing older and being scared of every person they see.
3) It teaches them bad words. Every lobby I go into, there is always that person (usually a child) screaming curse words for no good reason. Where did they find out these words? From older players. If there was a minimum age, you would not have this problem. Children are getting angrier because of this game.
4) My final reason is that it causes violence. No 10 year old should be able to make another creatures head explode, or shoot other players virtually. What happens when that transfers to the real world? That anger and frustration would lead to much property being desecrated including
Mailbox Baseball
Laser Tag
TPing Houses
Egging Cars
Multiple holes in the wall from being punched.
ANY PERSON who do not follow these rules should be arrested with a minimum 2 year sentence.
Thank you all for the support you give me. I believe that a change to only 18 year olds and over would make the worlds youth safer and more intelligent than currently.

You are what is wrong with humans in this day and age. Trying to wrap everything in bubble wrap. You know where the majority of kids learn profanity? School, tv/movies, and their parents. If someone goes on a killing spree after playing a video game, they are mentally ill because they can't differentiate between fantasy and reality. It's people like you that think everyone is so unstable that a little virtual violence will turn them aggressive psychopaths.
-
Is this serious? I know there are little kids playing but really though?
-
1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword.
-
Look you can arrest someone for playing destiny too young, also age limits don't matter Because kids will play what they say look play, that's no limilt it's a suggestion
-
So basically this is saying Video Games cause violence in the real world instead of people being mentally ill. Or just think completely different from human sanity. Hitler is an example
please throw satire in your tags
Bad troll is bad.

I don't know what you're smoking but I'm pretty sure it's stronger than the whacky baccy you thought it was.

Be a better parent, problem solved. Don't just blindly trust boxes with a letter in them.

I never flinch when I see a sword

Edited by Zach: 7/6/2015 1:21:18 PM1. how will it cause traumatic situations? 2. no real argument. 3. its not like they learn those words from school, friends and parents already. 4. studys on this topic makes your argument invalid.

You sir, are a Bossfugle

Is this satire ?

I am a good influence on the 12 yr old clan mate who beat 35 poe with me yesterday.

Look at this tool, lololol. I spent the majority of my childhood playing online video games and I turned out fine. Married, halfway through college (the second time), and have a good paying job. By majority of my childhood, I mean every day after school til about midnight. Around 8 hours a day. Chill out.

Edited by SkankSlayer: 7/6/2015 12:27:21 PMTraumatic situations? Thats a really low bar for that term. Its almost an insult to real trauma. Try taking your kid to a trauma center, tell them hes played too much xbox Maybe 4, but not many people are 10 on here, and even then itd only be a kid with a bad attitudde and an underdeveloped sense of what is real. Its not like this is virtual reality 2, depends, but a 3 hour session is really long. Most kids i know barely get 30 mons before their rents take them to church or make em do chores 3, well that happens at thanksgiving dinner so what ya gonna do
-
1 - what? That makes no sense 2 - antisocial is the incorrect terminology for what you are describing, since antisocial is the term for people who hurt other and feel no remorse. 3 - Yep swear words are bad and they could learn them from other players, no debate there 4- Where is your data for this conclusion? Your evidence? Cited Articles? Violent video games can be correlated with higher aggression, but correlation does not prove causation. You should be looking to parenting styles to answer for the child's decision making and deviant behavior, and also their peers for the most part. But sometimes there are deviations from the norm, like everything else in the world.

I am sorry I don't want to sound rude but this is really stupid. Destiny is such a mild shooter game compared to everything else. I understand the 18+ thing for games like call of duty but destiny is so mild. This is really an illogical argument.

1.) You don't want your child to be traumatized because you don't want to see someone holding a sword? Are you petitioning to ban shows kids watch like Power Rangers and TMNT too? (I sure hope those are still somewhat relevant) 2.) If you're so worried about kids developing antisocial tendencies, that doesn't reflect the game. That shows that the parent doesn't know how to tell their kid to turn their console off and do something else. 3.) Destiny does not teach foul language. You cannot blame what kids say over a chat on Destiny. I'm certain a majority did not learn those words from Destiny, since the dialogue very rarely swears. And guess what? Rachet and Clank, a game that came with my PS3 swears in it. This argument is also invalid 4.) You seem to be thinking that Destiny is the only cause of violence. Taking Destiny away from people under the age of 18 would be like removing a blade of grass in a football field. And I'm sure even children can tell the difference between shooting aliens and shooting real life humans. Unless you have no faith in the world's youth. TL;DR your argument is very flawed.

Game chat is used every game!?

It was a stormy day in may, I was playing the level 35 prison of elders and we were fighting Skolas, this was our last attempt... We had exhausted all our heavy ammo synthesis in the previous rounds and and were making one last daring attempt. We had Skolas down to 50% health when i heard a loud thunder strike outside. "NO!" I screamed but it was too late the red and grey bar had appeared at the bottom of my screen. "Attempting to reconnect." It read. "Get gud scrub" It thundered all around me, outside and inside the game. Lighting flashed all around my house blinding me, when i regained my vision this is what i saw: "SmoggyPluto has joined your fireteam." I frantically checked my screen and sure enough he was there in our fireteam, 4 in our fireteam... He spawned in with a monstrous roar that turned to a low chuckle... "not today." he said. He ran to my unmoving glitching form; my teammates screaming overwhelmed with adds. He spawned a bubble that gave us both weapons and blessing of light. I was astounded but knew that i would not last long enough... I was going to disconnect... When suddenly SmoggyPluto reached through my screen and grabbed the disconnect bar... I couldn't believe what was happening. He grabbed the bar as if it was a stick, pulled it off my screen and loaded it into his Gjallarhorn, He then jumped into the sky, a quartic jump, 5 JUMPS, he got so high he absorbed the sun and then in one swoop shot the disconnect bar into Skolas tearing him apart into nothing. The wolfpack rounds then proceed to swarm and destroy the mines we were supposed to dismantle He stayed with us all the way to the treasure room but did not speak. Finally he urinated on the large chest and turned to us and said "become legend gaurdian." SmoggyPluto has left your fireteam. speechless me and my fireteam all opened the pee-stained chest... We all received 3 Gjallarhorns... One void, one arc, and one solar, all already fully maxed all hail SmoggyPluto

It's rated T for a reason, you know teens and up. And in case you don't understand how ages work, 12, 13, 14, and so on are all teens.
