Although this is an old, already discussed problem, I believe that we can still change. I feel that the majority of players that play Destiny are under the appropriate age for shooters. I think this age should be 18 and over. I'll give you a few reasons.
1)It causes traumatic situations. I for one do not want my child flinching and screaming away every time they see somebody holding a sword.
2) It causes anti-social instincts to grow. When you think about it, the average session a child will play in Destiny is three to four hours. That's three to four hours where the only communication the are getting is with people they have met over the Internet. I don't want children growing older and being scared of every person they see.
3) It teaches them bad words. Every lobby I go into, there is always that person (usually a child) screaming curse words for no good reason. Where did they find out these words? From older players. If there was a minimum age, you would not have this problem. Children are getting angrier because of this game.
4) My final reason is that it causes violence. No 10 year old should be able to make another creatures head explode, or shoot other players virtually. What happens when that transfers to the real world? That anger and frustration would lead to much property being desecrated including
Mailbox Baseball
Laser Tag
TPing Houses
Egging Cars
Multiple holes in the wall from being punched.
ANY PERSON who do not follow these rules should be arrested with a minimum 2 year sentence.
Thank you all for the support you give me. I believe that a change to only 18 year olds and over would make the worlds youth safer and more intelligent than currently.

That list of what will happen was my youth without video games
-
I've been playing rated M games since I was 5 years old
-
Long before there was violent video games me and my friends played war games using toy guns or ones we made ourselves. Before there was foam swords you could buy we made our own using pipe insulation and broom sticks. Left a few brusies there. We played violent make believe. This was when I was ten in 1985. We were not allowed to watch violent movies or TV but simulated violence anyway. My 11 year old can play Destiny. He can't play GTA, Watchdogs, or Dyinglight. He can't watch R movies. He knows what he sees in movies and games are not real.

So you're one of those parents

try moving this to #igorant

Edited by BIGL23187: 8/5/2015 9:14:03 PMI agree I play with people around my age..I'm 35. It's usually bad news if we have to get a little kid from the forums. They usually think they know it all (when they don't)..they have no patience. ..and they scream and throw fits when things don't go their way. I don't have time for that. Everyone I play with will automatically kick these little kids as soon as they speak, I will do the same too.
-
You do you, let us do us. Once you get a kid, he can play mine craft until 18. Or that might be too violent. My kid will know the difference between IRL and pixels and still enjoy gaming

Edited by xDemonKakashix: 8/5/2015 9:24:05 PMIts up to the parents to monitor and punish these behaviors. The ratings system is more like a guideline not law so therefore it cant be enforced. Even if it was to become law it would be impossible to enforce as our law enforcement officers dont have time to do this. Parents need to be informed and monitor their kids on these games and not use them as a babysitter. Also there is no scientific evidence that playing violent games leads to vandalism or other violent behavior do your research before you decide to spread your false claims as facts.
-
Imagine what would happen if a child didn't play video games. In order to prove any point you're trying to get across, you need a control for this causal claim. You need to know of they same things happen when a child plays video games and what happens when they don't. Otherwise you're just spitting out opinions with no evidence and no one will believe anything you say.

Edited by BanditNation: 8/5/2015 9:29:43 PMOh look, you're still here. Why?
-
To be quite honest, I don't think a 13 year old will be mentally scarred by shooting aliens, if they are old enough to have to deal with their future being held in the balance with exams they are old enough to blow off some steam shooting up some pixels.

Dude this game is rated teen if u want to go play s game that the rules are literally broken for under 16 or something go play gta
-
You can do that to your kids. But everyone else can do what they want
-
Tipper Gore? Is that you?
-
I lol'd at laser tag
-
Best b8 I've seen in a while 👍
-
You didn't watch rated r movies until you were 18? Or drink until you were 21?
-
I'm 13 and i play destiny. Unless I was dropped as a baby, I'm pretty sure I'm ok in the head
-
You are an overprotective parent that will more then likely have a child that grows up weak and in informed on the outside world do to most kids my age 12 love shooter games and it has no effect on me other then give me a new hobbie and the ability to talk about some of the stuff with my friends that play
-
-
If a video game ruins/influence a kids life the that's a fail at parenting.
-
You're a complete douche bag. I'm 37 years old and have played everything from duck hunt to destiny. All of your scenarios don't apply. I mean, I do curse a lot, but not because of games. More from being social with all of my brothers, cousins and neighborhood friends.

Edited by Chincilla: 8/5/2015 8:48:42 PMLol you're not deciding what how other people raise there children.

You are the best

You know what fixes all of these problems? Better parenting!!! Be a better parent and you will have better kids! (obviously there are exceptions) parents aren't parents anymore they rely on video games teachers and TV to be baby sitters for their kids and if that don't work they take them to the doctor to get drugs. It used to be parents spent time with their kids, helped them with school, etc. But now parents are to self absorbed to take care of their own kids. If the kid is doing bad in school it's the teachers fault, if the kid is acting up he/she needs drugs, if the kid is violent it's bc of video games. It's ridiculous to blame every one of todays youth's problems on someone/something else! Take some accountability for your children and be a better parent!

I don't agree with your opinion on violence in videogames.. Well it's very irresponsable from parents leave their very young (10-11-12-13 yo) children for hours in front of violent and bloody games, that s right, but I don't think destiny is that kind of games.. There aren't extreme violent scenes when you kill enemies of all kinds. After this, I think that many children learn to be unpolite and rude while speaking with older people in chat, and this can be stopped by more awareness from all the community.. Well it's not easy not to scream shit! Shit! Shit! While 5 stealth vandals just spowned behind you with lightswich but a bit of behavior would help.. Parents also should keep an eye on their sons if they scream and insult people as I read so many times on the forum
