So, part 1 of 2 is up. It's essentially an apology with a little explanation of what's to come. (Here it is if you wanna read it, and I think we all should: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=13090)
That being said, I'm a little confused by the pricing correction though so maybe my fellow guardians can help. The way I read it is that we will need to buy the taken king at $40 and, if we want the collector's stuff, we need to drop another $20. Is that correct?

Edited by Klown: 6/25/2015 2:36:13 AM20$ Cosmetics. For the cost of an expansion. People will buy it, Bungie will think this is an acceptable business model, Activision will masturbate furiously over their new stream of revenue from this package, and the player base will continue to lap up the juices that drop down from the conjoined fap session of bungie and Activision and call it a day. I get why they made it 20$, to keep their C.E relevant.. To me, it just seems like they are trying to reiterate Lukes point in the interview. He was right. People will pay, and the 20$ price tag is a win/win for them. Veterans who complained can now buy the emotes. Those who Do, give them more money. Lel.
-
As I posted in another thread, I read the whole update as "Hey... uh... sorry for saying you're a bunch of idiots that will throw money at the screen for a few emotes. Yeah. Sorry about that. I'm an ass. By the way, here's a bunch of emotes. Now throw money at the screen for them. $20 should do it." Are the really serious?! Because it sounds like they're totally messing with us. Like Deej and this other guy wrote this up and were egging each other on; "Dare me to post it?! Haha!! I'm totally gonna post it!! Haha our community are morons!! Screw em!" I won't be buying this microtransaction pack, Taken King, or anything else Bungie release from here on out. I'm sure I won't be missed, as there are plenty of kids out there whose parents will throw them the credit card to spend on dumb stuff like this. It'll sell. It'll sell well. And it will set another new precedent for the series. Something I don't want to be a part of. Maybe a lot of you aren't old enough to remember, but I remember when Bungie decided to try charging for map packs for Halo 2. The kind of thing that was given away for free on PC until that point. People complained, but it sold like hotcakes. And look at where that got us? Microtransactions in every game. An industry that just sees us as a bunch of idiots that will "Throw money at the screen" for the dumbest "content" that took them almost no effort. We'll just dig ourselves deeper.

I think it's some bs, we get the taken king for 40 bucks, and the additional class items and shit for 20 so if we get both its 60$ or you could just get the one that has all of it and vanilla destiny with the dark below and house of wolves for 60$ might as well get the ladder and give destiny, dark below and house of wolves as a gift since we already have it
-
Everyone crying about this must be new to gaming. All games that sell cosmetics, skins etc. All go for at least $1.99/$2.99. You are getting 9 for $20, that's not bad. Plus, it's optional most will probably see them and go meh and not buy them anyways.
-
Let me get this money thing straight. 3 emotes, 3 shaders and 3 class items will cost us 20$....... That's the same price as the last two DLCs. So 3 emotes, 3 shaders, and 3 items are the same value as the House of wolves ?? Really Bungie ?? Way to go. Greedy pricks.
-
Yeah you're not saving a lot of money right there with this new pricing. It's a half hearted attempted to win people over, and it may get some of the diehard Bungie fans but not a lot of folks. They have yet to show us that this DLC is even remotely worth 40.00
-
CE = $80 (LE plus cosmetics) LE = $60 Therefore: $80-$60 = $20 value of cosmetics TTK DL = $40 DL CE = $60 (TTK DL + cosmetics) $60-$40 = $20
-
Edited by Griffilicous: 6/25/2015 6:16:15 AMBottom line, they are charging us $20 dollars to accept thier apology....Just really think about that, let it sink in and let your anger boil to new levels.
-
Still want that UK price put down to y'know what the UK price should actually be, they've sorted the stuff with some of the shiny collectors edition stuff sure but i still wan't my "foreign" currency to be of equal worth not you pay more because i don't like your metal coins
-
Just wait and the upgrade to CE will drop to $5 - $10 once all the tards drop the cash to buy it right off the bat and sales of it slow down. If you're a day 1 player you shouldn't need the XP boosts anyway. They're aimed at new players to help them get to max level quickly who knows the XP boost may not even be all that significant. Not sure why there is such a fuss about all this. People may say oh but it will help leveling the 3rd subclass. There are enough bounties to get that done quite quickly since day 1 players should have all their weapons and armor maxed out anyway.
-
I read the news and this sounds to me that players who buyed the game for 60€ + crota and how 40€ still need to buy TTK for 40€ + upgrade bundel for 20€ all together 160€ and new player get it all for 80€ O.o??????
-
You do realize this is how COD started their Micro-transactions right? soon you can have a Gjallerhorn for the one time low price of $9.99... shaders emblems and everything else with every new DLC will cost $1.99 a piece or buy everything including the DLC for $40... Im more P.Oed about this then i was about not getting anything
-
So basically, again for $60 we get the TK and the emotes, class items, and other stuff. It's literally the exact same deal we got.
-
Yea, it sounds like instead of dropping the full $80 on the Collector's Edition you can "add" the digital content to your purchase of the standard Taken King DLC for a grand total of $60. Considering that is STILL the going rate of a brand new full game, Taken King better be pretty fan-fecking-tastic to be worth dropping that chunk of change.
-
I honestly think the loyal rewards are bs. Anyone can pick up the game right now and get light level 30 in a few days and that makes them a year one VIP? No. Ppl that have been playing since beta should get the VIP rewards and that's just my personal opinion.
-
Yeah, it's a slap in the face basically. How are some shaders, dance emotes, and class items worth the price of an entire expansion? If they would have let us create our own shaders like we've been asking since launch....
-
it's wack. i bought DEstiny. I bought House of Wolves. Why the -blam!- do i need to pay $60 to get the taken king. I don't need destiny again. i don't need House of wolves again. I don't want the dark below at all. That's why i passed. I don't care about rewards and loyalty class items or whatever. I just don't think people should be made to rebuy content they already bought. I bought house of wolves. They didn't make me buy the dark below just to do it. Plus that makes the cost $60 which honestly isn't remotely worth it unless it's called Destiny 2 and has 4 new planets and some raids and many many new crucible maps and all new weapons etc.
-
I like the emblem and the almost "dead orbit" shader
-
That is what I got out of it too. It was not a big deal to not get it so I am not paying extra for them now.
-
Yes, but they aren't gonna have a list of what's gonna be in that pack yet. So there may be stuff in it that won't be available in any of the other packages. Since its aimed at year one players exclusively.
