*Destiny*

Dearest Bungie, My twitter feed has been full of nothing but hate for Bungie, Activision, Destiny, Deej, etc; people voicing their distaste, frustrations and anger, sharing links to entire articles slamming the Destiny brand and making personal undeserved attacks on Bungie employees. I'd just like to take a moment and share my own personal feelings. I purchased Destiny for my 360 in early January because a friend of mine told me how much he loved it. I started playing for awhile and really truly enjoyed myself. Got up to somewhere around level 23 and hit a wall. I wasn't getting gear, it was taking SO long to grind, I didn't understand a lot of aspects of the game, etc. After a few frustrating days of getting nowhere, I was started looking for strategies online and figured I'd check out the Bungie site. That's when I found out what this game was really about. That day was my first view into the "Bungie Community." I discovered "group forums" and "clans" for the first time. Before that point, I had NO idea how people got cool names of groups on their emblems in game. It didn't take much time at ALL for me to discover the "Dads of Destiny 360" clan and knew immediately that it would be a perfect fit for me, (being that I am a 30 year old father of 3) or, at the very least, the perfect stepping stone. Within a few weeks I was level 31. Every time I'd get on, I knew I would be able to find a fireteam to get through whatever task at hand. Just like that, the game was enjoyable again. I spent hours running around with my fellow "Dads" killing aliens and having a few laughs. As I explained, DoD360 was a stepping stone. A few of us formally stepped away to a new clan, WoL Warriors of Light (while maintaining a close relationship with DoD) and things got that much more fun! At this point, I had most of the game mechanics down pat and started raiding and jumping into Crucible matches and so on with my friends. These guys and gals in our clan, we've never met in person, never talked outside the Destiny universe, but, yes, friends. This is what the Bungie Community is all about. I wasn't around for The Dark Below release (as I didn't start playing until January), but, heard it expressed how terrible the release was for players leading up to the House of Wolves. Everyday on our clan wall the discussions and speculation about HoW was hit or miss. Some said "they'd better do it this way or that way," or "if we don't get this or that, I'm quitting." Others, however, "did you guys see how awesome this or that was?" ... All speculating and judging everything before we'd had any real details. The closer to launch HoW got, the more positive feedback I noticed. A couple times a week, more details were released and leaked and the excitement grew. Finally, release day. Personally, I love it! There is quite a bit more to do, better gear, sweet new weapons, more bounties, etc. I literally have trouble finding the time to get everything done in a week before reset. In fact, I often times don't. This is where my view seems to differ from other people, in that, I don't feel like I HAVE to get everything done. Now, we have the opportunity to choose: PoE or ToO? Queen's Bounties or Weekly Heroic? I love it! I honestly do! I wish I had more time to play through the week, but, between my wife and kids, my career, and gaming, I'm spread pretty thin. Every Friday night, "the boys" get together and raid. This is my "poker night" or my "bowling team." But... It costs a HELLuva lot less! I have paid (between the game and both expansions) $90-$100 total since January on this game. I mean this 100% - the value I've received in return in priceless. Our Friday Night Raids killing #Scrotes and #Atheon on hard mode back to back, laughing, drinking, and joking is some of the cheapest and most fun I could have these days, especially given that it's from the comfort of my own home. There are ENDLESS naysayers out there who are too quick to complain and point fingers. Wait! Wait for more details! Wait for more trailers and footage! Wait for more gear images and leaks! As I said, I was not disappointed by HoW in the slightest. More content, more things for me to do with friends, more ways to enjoy the game. I have faith in you guys as a whole that you will not disappoint. If I'm being 100% honest, the price kind of sucks as far as the bonuses new players get, but, if I can SOMEHOW find the means between now and September, I'll be upgrading to the XBox One or PS4 anyway and will absolutely buy the Collectors Edition." (The problem is finding "the means" to do so!) So, in conclusion, from a hardcore Destiny nerd, someone who LOVES the community, and someone who could not ask for anymore. Thank you and I truly look forward to The Taken King. @FoxyHotsauce (Now, let the trolling of my post begin)

  • Finally someone who isn't complaining on the forums I have the same experiences with my friends glad that everyone out there isn't some complaining asshole. As for consoles if you get the chance to upgrade to next gen I would recommend getting which ever one your friends play on... Even there is exclusives on ps4 they wouldn't be much fun playing by yourself. Keep being awesome
