Thanks to JOSIAHSPARTAN for helping me think of this question.
So, since Spartan-IV's have less extreme augmentations compared to Spartan-II's, and MJOLNIR GEN2 is cheaper and lighter than any MJOLNIR GEN1 variant, why has the UNSC not developed a variation of MJOLNIR that can be mass-produced for use by standard infantry? I highly doubt it's a monetary issue, and Hunt the Truth made it quite clear that resources aren't a problem, so what's stopping this from happening?

Edited by tmkilla: 6/25/2015 2:48:34 AMmjolnir is simply too powerful and was designed specifically for use by spartans, however theres no reason to believe that they cant streamline some kind of spi armor or maybe the current odst armor could be standard issue and they could develop a more advanced version of that armor for the odsts to use

Edited by Lord of Admirals: 6/24/2015 7:39:33 PMWhat Chronarch said, and MJOLNIR is made of highly exotic materials. If money isn't an issue, acquiring the resources to produce MJOLNIR is.

I get that. Really, I do. But resources clearly aren't a massive issue with the number of Spartan-IV's running around. And you would think that after tampering with the technology for over 30 years they would have found a way around the augmentation requirements.

Edited by Lord of Admirals: 6/24/2015 11:46:20 PMThe augmentation requirements are still in place because the legacy and success of the SPARTAN-II's and III's was built upon nearly immeasurable reaction times and speed. The reaction times and speed are partly possible only due to the extreme nature of MJOLNIR's reactive gel layer.

Oh, so it's a morale thing.
-
No, it's a success thing.

You need augmentations to use MJOLNIR, otherwise you break every bone in your body just trying to scratch our behind.
