We as a community, deserve some kind of statement and apology, directly from Luke Smith.
The entire situation with The Taken King has gone far beyond the ridiculous pricing issue. Now it's become a matter of principle. I don't know if it will accomplish anything, but I think it would be a pretty damn good start.
UPDATE: As of this week's Weekly Update, Luke Smith has publicly apologized. He has acknowledged that he said things he shouldn't have, and Bungie is planning on making things right with The Taken King.
I think this was a very good thing to do and it will help the entire community start the healing process. I just hope that Bungie keeps to their word.

Did what Luke Smith say really hurt your feelings? Did you cry when you read the article? Who gives a damn about a written or verbal apology? Luke said something he shouldn't have. He made a mistake. But I don't care what he says. I only care about the content he helps create as Destiny's creative director. I also don't care about some exclusive emotes and class items (I know I am not the majority in thinking that). I just plan to get the $40 Taken King DLC. That's it. All Bungie has to do is convince me that it is worth my money.

And we got one

Apologies are so meaningless now a days. Everyone thinks a formal apology fixes everything. They can say I'm sorry with some strong actions going forward that corrects the mistake.
-
Gtfo...
-
Formal apology is not needed. Actions speak louder than words. I'm sure they will try to fix this and by their action show that they are sorry. That's what community wanted right?
-
He did it! Not in that clip, but its pretty close to the same thing... /snicker (For real apology, check weekly update part 1 of 2)
-
Apologize for what? It's not like Luke Smith came to my house and dropped an upper-decker.
-
An apology won't mean anything because he won't actually have any contrition for what he said therefore his apology will be hollow, at best. If you want a hollow apology that was hand crafted by the PR department than just wait, there may be one on the way. I apologize all the time for shit I'm not sorry about. Sometimes people just want to hear the words. It's the actions that are the most important.
-
Really? Lol you need an apology? Hahahaha he's not the president on CNN saying "screw the troops" He's not a senator that got caught with cocaine and prostitutes...he's not a professional athlete that got caught doping...he's a game dev that basically said "buy the dlc, don't buy the dlc, we don't give a shit" And you want an apology? What would that do...would it make you feel better...or are you going to quit if you don't get a "sorry" along with a thank you note? Yea he was a dick but the big picture is that they don't owe you or me shit! You'll get your apology when you become CEO of bungie and you make him apologize. To be honest, what he said is not even apology worthy. Quit crying.
-
The dye has been cast, and no amount of carefully chosen words will erase the stain.
-
For what?
-
O my god is this what the world is coming to? You want a formal apology? From a guy who said nothing directed at you, your religion, sex, occupation, or creed? He said nothing offensive and what he said was misconstrued. You make my faith in humanity fail.
-
One, it wouldn't do a damn thing because this community would simply find something else to whine about (they always do). Two, it's not apology worthy to be perfectly honest. Three, Bungie isn't going to make a top dev publicly apologize for an interview taken out of context. PR does damage control in situations like this. That's how big companies work. So good luck with that apology, lol.

His apology can be found at the bottom of a red bull can...
-
Why would I even want to hear from that guy. He's such an idiot! Bungie should apologize to us for hiring him. THAT I'd listen to!
-
If I were he I would tell you to go F yourself. Since I'm me, I'll simply say that this post is dumb.

Edited by WINTER PROPHET: 6/24/2015 5:34:26 PMThere's no apology that changes his existance and what he is being transmitted into the games content, and any words that remove the fact that the cash we spend goes into his paycheck. It's not happening. I'm awesome with not giving companies any money when they think we will throw it at them for WORTHLESS EMOTES that have zero functional purpose. ;o) Props OP. unfortunately for Luke he can't talk his way out of being stupid and looking at community as wallet fodder.
-
No, we don't. Luke Smith told the truth and your delicate sensibilities couldn't -blam!-ing handle it. He also wasn't at liberty to elaborate on a lot of stuff he probably wanted to.
-
no we dont. stop being so butt-hurt
-
-
I want them throwing apologies at the screen.

I agree things said are troublesome. But it's blow up out of proportion . Who knew video game developers had egos? Who thought they are in it to make as much money for as little as they can? That's the video game industry . As long as we keep buying $hit they will keep giving us $hit
