The interviewer knew he was asking a volatile line of questioning. When press events and interviews like this are set up, normally there's topics left on or off the table before hand.
If you read the interview again you can see he displays he's not comfortable or even allowed to talk about the marketing strategy/policy. And his comments are clearly meant towards only the guy interviewing him.
The interviewer is sooooooo hung up on emotes, and Luke is saying "look, if emotes are so important to you then buy it. If they aren't then don't." Which he already said once in a more polite way then his direct quote.
Would I buy an emote/class item pack for let's say 20 bucks? Sure. And maybe I'd even get the collectors edition. But if I decide not to (which I'm leaning towards right now) I won't be jaded about my purchase because I'm missing out on dance moves and fancy clothes in a -blam!-ing shooter. Lol.

Completely understand that. That's why i preordered the $40 DLC. If, and thats a big IF, (cause i doubt its gonna happen)they sell Emotes as microtransactions, count me in. But im not gonna rebuy stuff i own just cause ofn some dance moves.

Yeah, if they started doing micro transactions it would be a while new nightmare on these forums. Lol. But I'm same boat as you. If they do I'm cool, if not I'm cool too.
