I think people are taking Luke's word too seriously. They are assuming he is the showman for Bungie, and his words are what Bungie practices. He even said he can't talk on Bungie's philosophy in the interview. My problem with the interview was how condescending he sounded through the entire thing. It seemed like he didn't care about it all or the repercussion of sounding like a prick.
He's the raid designer and he has no authority to comment on price changes. He gets that it kind of sucks, but he has no control over it. Eurogamer should have known that, but they still pressured and ragged on about prices and the stupid emotes. Had he said anything positive about price changes or new bundles, they would have been false promises and you would hate him for that.
DeeJ has made multiple relieving comments, and this Thursday the Weekly Update is supposedly going over our concerns with the pricing and bundle exclusives, so everyone chill out. Let's wait and hear what the REAL community manager has to say. He's the guy whose word you should listen to more than anything. If you don't like what he says, just move on. If you like it, well; I'm glad we reached an impasse.

What kills me about it is he is saying HE HIMSELF would fork out like he is saying others would.
-
Well, DeeJ did admit that the physical collector's edition is kind of sold out... So, I don't think Luke is the only one.
-
If you LOOK at what the collectors edition has its worth it. The problem is exclusivity of the digital goods. However the presence of those things which are otherwise unobtainable was intended to ensure the sense of value to a potential customer. I think the community is really jumping the gun. Bungie definitely underestimated players desire for the digital goods in question.

Luke Smith sympathizer detected.
-
Sympathize? Haha, no. I rather don't like Luke Smith. I think's he's stubborn and annoying. I'm trying to act rational and civil is all. I'm not a hate monger who needs to fuel the flames.
-
Lol, no one asked this guy to start a dumpster fire.
-
He didn't start anything. The mass amount of self-entitlement did.
-
Sympathizer confirmed.
-
What's to sympathize? You're acting like everyone here is right and only Luke is wrong. Everyone here is on the wrong foot, including Luke.
-
Buddy Luke Smith is the Creative Director of TTK. In other words, he is the creator of the DLC. He is the Head Honcho, the boss, manager, whatever for the TTK.
-
I don't think creative directors decide on pricing or marketing.
-
Well it seemed it that interview like he chose the prices.
-
Lmao. How so? Have you ever worked for a corporation? Are you aware that there's rules and clauses in a contract? Protocols for what to say and do? He attempted to politely sidestep the line of questioning of the interviewer and got irate when the guy kept pushing. But who am I kidding, no one on these forums has ever made an unwise comment when annoyed by someone right? Lol.
-
Bro, im not even trying to -blam!-ing argue. Shit. All i said was simply "seems like he chose the prices". And they you come at me with some smart ass remark. No -blam!-ing need to be rude. God damn, this community is so -blam!-ing toxic, its disgusting.
-
No need to get that irate. Perhaps I should've taken more time to frame my points less sharply. I'm not trying to argue either. So many are quick to grab pitchforks without really assessing the interview or the context some of the comments were made under. I didn't mean to come off as attacking you. I just hate when people make wild assumptions.
-
The reason i said he probably chose the prices was because he is the creator of this DLC. He knows how much values there is in it. He could've met up with his marketers and negotiated different prices for different packs. I could be wildly misinterpreting this, but its what im observing. I might not know much of how corporations/companies work. I just turned 18 6 days ago. Sorry if i got angry too soon. Lol.

Edited by THEJOE3000: 6/23/2015 6:09:59 PMIt's all good man. As someone who's been in the corporate sector for quite awhile now let me tell you, the level of scrutiny your under is maddening. What you say, do, how you look is constantly under scrutiny from above and below. I do t have to deal with press in my career, but I know it's even worse on that level. Luke made some stupid comments out of annoyance with the interviewer, when he should've just excused himself. You may have a point on the negotiating of price but I doubt it. Normally there's different teams of people and they have little influence on each other's divisions. There is someone who could've sidestepped this debacle, but it's most likely an activision employee.
-
There we're some really dumb ones in there. Especially the the comment about firing up a video and showing the emotes. He was pretty much harassing the guy. Like come on now.
-
The interviewer knew he was asking a volatile line of questioning. When press events and interviews like this are set up, normally there's topics left on or off the table before hand. If you read the interview again you can see he displays he's not comfortable or even allowed to talk about the marketing strategy/policy. And his comments are clearly meant towards only the guy interviewing him. The interviewer is sooooooo hung up on emotes, and Luke is saying "look, if emotes are so important to you then buy it. If they aren't then don't." Which he already said once in a more polite way then his direct quote. Would I buy an emote/class item pack for let's say 20 bucks? Sure. And maybe I'd even get the collectors edition. But if I decide not to (which I'm leaning towards right now) I won't be jaded about my purchase because I'm missing out on dance moves and fancy clothes in a -blam!-ing shooter. Lol.
-
Completely understand that. That's why i preordered the $40 DLC. If, and thats a big IF, (cause i doubt its gonna happen)they sell Emotes as microtransactions, count me in. But im not gonna rebuy stuff i own just cause ofn some dance moves.
-
Yeah, if they started doing micro transactions it would be a while new nightmare on these forums. Lol. But I'm same boat as you. If they do I'm cool, if not I'm cool too.

Edited by HaPpYDude007: 6/23/2015 5:08:36 PMI think Deej comment is also pretty arrogant as well when he mentions CE being sold out and go on Ebay to find it. I agree to wait to see what they offer. But I will tell you this: if all the weapons we have gathered and ascended in Year 1 are left in the cold and no vault space is introduced , then that will cement my decision to walk away.
-
I'm not referring to just that comment. He mentions veterans will get something better than what is offered and mentions he will discuss the concerns over the Weekly Update.
