Over a video game? Nope. It won't help Bungie, and it won't satisfy the torches and pitchfork crowd anyway - already on the forums here there are posts about firing him, and posters saying they want to screw his wife, and cesspool bullshit like that. So no, he doesn't owe anyone an apology for interviewing poorly, and nobody who has decided he's evil incarnate would care.
Bungie may walk back and/or clarify his statements; they may say "Luke, we don't think more interviews are a good idea," but other than that, no. He doesn't deserve any punishment or shaming.
