After reading the entire euro gamer interview and the recent Forbes magazine piece release today- hard to see bungie not addressing this soon. Apparently DeeJ has said there will be something better in store for current gamers, but they don't know what yet. They are scrambling to do damage control after this guy made them looks like corporate assholes.

READ---
An apology is not about Luke Smith, it's about bungie admitting fault. By him apologizing it means Bungie OK the apology and is apologizing trough him to a degree, while them apologizing directly would be ideal, that's not going to happen.
UPDATE ON DLC!!!!!----
Bungie has partnered with Red Bull and now an "Epic Quest" which originally os part of TTK is only accessible if you purchase a special can of Red Bull and get the access code. Otherwise you have to wait until mid-December to play it if you don't buy Red Bull.
Bungie requires Red Bull purchase for new DLC Quest
Bungie doesn't care about the consumers, only their money.
You now have to purchase 3rd party products in order to play something you will have purchased outright. Where does it end?
Edit- sorry for the grammatical error, should say HE.
Edit--
Why do all you fools keep saying "your sad to get so upset over a few emotes..."
It has absolutely nothing to do with the emotes. It has to do with the principle of respecting your consumers/clientele and not be arrogant enough to blatantly speak about such people as if they are idiots and will buy whatever shit your pushing.
This is 2015 there is no more "it's just a videogame company" or "he's just a designer"
Wrong. He is a part of a major corporate conglomerate and as such anything he says or does in the public eye (and sometimes private) it's open for judgement and criticism. That's just life today.
He gets no pass for being insensitive to his buyers.
Neither does bungie.
It isn't about emotes it's about expectations of a company to its consumers.
I guess the difference in opinions depends if your an adult with a career who understands business or if your a teen or college student. I would be pressed to say most career working adults with families would lean towards the understanding of how there was a fault committed from a business ethics standpoint.
UPDATE****
Luke Smith apologizes and TTK prices are changed....

Apologize for doing his job? Uhh
-
Actually he already did. Before he even made the comment. In another interview he said that they weren't trying to puss anyone off with the collectors edition. He doesn't make business decisions. He's not a businessman. He makes the game. And I like it.
-
Dude isn't a public speaker or a buisness marketer. He is raid designer. He is an awkward gamer just like us.... I'm not the most gentle man when speaking about subjects I g care about. Dude -blam!-ed up, but he was doomed to start from the beginning. He never had a chance
-
No that's not needed. He's human. He's proud of the work. So of course he over sells it with a common 'Baller' phrase of throwing money at something. Probably trying to relate to the 'kids'. I can't blame him really. Sure he shouldn't have said it probably but meh, too late for that. We shouldn't be so sensitive. They are changing things for us. Hopefully it plays out well.
-
Uh. That red bull was leaked ages ago. You people will throw anything at this guy; he isn't even a PR rep.
-
Should apologize for speaking truth?
-
Apologize for what exactly? Lol, good luck with that.
-
wow im surprised by the results but at this point i guess i shouldnt be
-
You people act like he insulted your family or stole your lively hood. Get a hold of yourselves. It's a video game and Bungie is in the video game business to make money .
-
What if the interview was set up for this public reaction. Lets all go apeshit!!
Euro gamer spoke on the subject and said smith was actually very polite and it's was a joke most the time and the community doesn't need to treat it as such it was his writing that messed it up Here are the links https://mobile.twitter.com/tomphillipsEG/status/613376448645214209 https://mobile.twitter.com/tomphillipsEG/status/613376025775460352 Guys we need to bump and like this so everyone can see the true story and clear Luke's name come on help spread the news Edit it's hilarious how many people make excuses and still bash the guy or say it's fake or bungie payed it off grow up and realize your wrong.
-
Just because you were offended that does not mean you are owed an apology. -blam!- you and all you tenderfoot pussies!
-
There's no need for him to apologize as he never did anything wrong
-
I'd like to think it was trying to quote Futurama in some good old cultural humour and just got the words wrong. Haven't we all done that ?
-
If they disagreed with him it would've been done already.
-
LOL apologize for what?
-
I believe that even if he doesn't care, Bungie will say/mention that he said something wrong and he's sorry on the update with something to calm everyone down

Looks like I'm making more noodles tonight. Got the salty water ready pretty early today. This isn't this first game to do this and won't be the last. Did you complain then? Nope. Also, most people drink Red Bull now and then or you know someone that does. Buy 1 fu*king can and get the code. Get it from a friend that drinks it. Find one in the trash at your job.... oh, never mind lol. It's summertime kid, go outside and play. Stop hiding from the girls in bikinis for a change.

No for answering the question of why is it i have to buy the game and both DLCS i already own in order to get stuff only true destiny fans would care about with a remark of you should throw money at us
-
No, and I can't believe all the uproar over an interview or third party partnerships. Most game companies do this with popular games so Bungie should be no different. Also, it'll be a year since the release of the game, so packaging a compilation is normal as well. Charging $40 for a DLC is a bit steep, but you all can wait to see what the reviews are before making a decision, or just use the pre-order $$ for another game. At any rate I'm getting the DLC because Destiny is one of the best games I've played in a long time, FPS-wise that is. It's so addicting even with all the problems and issues the game has. I still go back to it. You can't argue with the game mechanics as a shooter, there is none better out there, not COD, not Battlefield, none of them. Cheers

Who cares? Any apology from any company is essentially based on what the best business move is and not on actual sincerity. It’s lame that people actually believe that after receiving an apology from some company PR rep, customer service rep or politician that they demanded that they ‘made the difference’ and the company ‘learned its lesson.’ Reality is that companies will tell you whatever you need to hear to spend more cash – it’s the smart thing for them to do.
-
all that it proves that destiny isnt exciting/interesting enough if people discuss such interview scandal bullshit to death instead of the game itself , when some emotes or class items are most anticipated thing in a dlc theres also something wrong
-
It's a business, and in no way are they nonprofit. So of course they are going to try and make money. Plus they are with Activision, which is also a business. And will try to make money. The interview seems too perfect for eurogamer. They have the best article to get the most traffic through their site. Especially since it has been flooding most major gaming circles. Maybe I'm just an ass but I read most of the responses as lighthearted and joking. Plus he's a lead raid designer, what else could he possibly have to say after the first response he gave? The red bull exclusives are just meh. Extra XP and a quest everyone will be able to play in December. I'll just wait, unless someone I know buys redbull. Then I'll just ask them to buy those cans and give me the codes. Which I would share here or with my clan.

Edited by Sideswipe: 6/24/2015 2:45:05 PMYes, it sucks that Red Bull is offering a new quest. But that is business, again nothing new. Fact is businesses are always trying to find ways to squeeze money out of consumers, and other companies trying to piggy back off another's success. That's the way of the world today. Don't like it? Don't buy red bull and/or don't play Destiny.
Looks like I may have buy a case or 2 of Red Bull. Not for myself, but for work. We don't need any ATM, but never hurts to be well stocked for Red Bull & vodka!
