I support World Bosses. I also support higher level patrols.
New World Type Bosses should be made.
Edit 1: Please read the whole post before commenting please.
And they should do like Star Wars the Old Republic did it, have them in specific areas on the map, and not Random, instead having a "Button" of sorts that activates the World Boss. Much like the pile of bones in the Ol' Loot Cave.
But it would require increasing the patrol Guardians from 3-6 but preferably 9.
World Bosses in most games are meant to be taken down by very very large crews, basically they are meant to be taken down by all players in the current world. And on say an earth patrol, you really dont want to be hashing out with a World level boss with a bunch of level 5's at your side.
Oh!! Even better idea!!
A new Patrol button, World Boss Patrol, party size 6, Level Requirement of 32, This way all people in the instance are at least 32. Once the "button" is pushed an alert goes out to all people on the planet. "The World boss has been awakened, backup your fellow Guardians!" Giving all players in the instance time to get there, and it will require a minimum of 14 players to take him down within a decent amount of time. 6 players could do it, but it would take forever.
And not some silly bullet sponge, A legit boss. A giant Ogre, bigger than Phogoth. An even more powerful Gatelord.
And no Gimmick crap. No Death Containment bubbles, setting fire to the world, none of that. Minor enemy spawns little peons that normally spawn there, all red bar. No Yellows.
Also the Bosses should be Red skull bosses, something 3-6 Guardians simply cannot take down by themselves.
Areas for them to have their Spawns:
Moon
-Hellmouth, MF climbs right out and onto that platform.
Venus
-Over where VoG Starts, MF either A. Smashes right out of the Vault, or B. Cutscene of a Giant Vex gate opening at the bottom of the cliff and he climbs up.
Earth
- Forgotten Shores, A. Comes up out of the ocean right there starts wreaking Havoc. B. Ketch Lands and drops off the Big Bad.
Mars
- Mars is a Tough one for me as im not sure of a very good place for a world Boss there.
But there is all my idea for it. and i apologize for the length.
Please add you comments and ideas below. I feel like this would breathe a lot of new life into patrols for higher level players. Once the level caps increase a third Patrol option should be added increasing the levels of all enemies on the planet again including the level of the world bosses.
Edit 2: For those of you who dont know what a world boss is, there are some great videos on youtube, and information to be found on google to give you much more in depth idea of what this is, normall i would provide all that information but it would make this post far too long.
Edit 3: I would like to tie in this post to this as it could make a Good reward, or tie it in with something else as a reward. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/132380341/0/0
Edit 4: I would also like to Tie this post in done by @Dead Arashi. It would make a great tie in, and the Currency in his post could be a main drop from the World Boss. Here is his post. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/128964822/0/0
Edit 5: By instituting a lvl 26 and up patrol they could bring back the Blades of Crota and have them there, and by instituting a 30 and up, you have a place for wolves, by instituting 34 and up you have a place for the new TTK one. Appalled i hadnt thought of this before as it keeps special things from each expansion relevant to the player and providing them places to do it while leveling through that expansion.
Edit 6: A lot of people are telling me they are adding something similar to world bosses in Court of Oryx. Until they reveal this i will not say it is a world boss, but i will say player activated events is a start. Hopefully if it goes well, they will add more in an update to the other worlds. I hope it is done right and is epic but i am reserving full opinion until i physically play one. If they do and its right i hope this post gains even more support and grows even more, maybe we can get it all that we want here!

Ok, so I promised I would try to dredge up more ideas, so here goes...
The Vex Leviathan

On Venus, evil stirs... Patrolling the burnt tropics of Venus, we frequently spot the data conduits littering the billion year old ruins. Those bars of light that attest to... Something you can't quite grasp. Ghost can see more, and decides to try sifting through the xenottobytes of data streaming past every second. Diving into the stream, ghost keeps a steady update. But so does something else. This is precious data, not easily parted with, and the caretaker of the vex mind is displeased at your intrusion. This is a threat, a challenge to be taken up immediately... And dealt with permanently. You scoot around Venus, scanning for a location. You can pick it up in the caverns beneath you, moving from one data source to another, searching for you as you search for it, and every data stream seems to bring you closer. Suddenly, the much anticipated, yet dreaded call. "Got it. You may want to move back." Connect to the same data stream as it, and it will come charging out of caves, caverns, gorges, even vex gates. Whatever is closest to you. Built? Grown? Or even a testament to time immemoriam, this thing is the stuff of nightmares. A mass of legs and bristling with every manner of electronic instrument. Think black widow, robotic, about 20 more legs with a body the size of a skiff alone (and just as ugly). And it's PISSED. The first danger to notice is this thing's speed. It will dart across the battlefield far faster than any of you. So give it distractions. Use your sparrows. Use your glides. Keep it flitting from target to target. It's weaponry is startlingly basic. A laser mounted on it's underbelly whines, builds, and spits out the fires of creation, immolating three guardians in a blink, those unlucky enough to not spot the warning. Scatter guns pick away at shields and hammer into the sides of rabbiting sparrows. But by far the most deadly danger is what has come to be known as the Temporal Transition, or "T-Time", coined by some of the European guardians. This monstrosity has the ability to swap in its own timeline. That is, it will physically change places with a past or future version of itself. It has fought countless battles, using this switch to save and survive. Be prepared for anything, as the Temporal field is unstable. It will drag with it anything it may have been fighting at the switch. So in the blink of an eye, you may find yourself suddenly fighting the same screeching horror, only this one is ablaze with skiff-fire napalm. Or an ogre, locked in battle. Or a full compliment of Cabal. Be watchful. Be prepared. Anything too close to the leviathan at the switch is lost to time. You can blind it, you can wound it, you can blast off a leg, and it will die. But be prepared - the Temporal versions may have these injuries or they may differ, but they are just as dangerous. Use this knowledge to your advantage. Find the device that allows the transition, and destroy this creature. For good.
Comments VERY much appreciated.

Edited by Osiris: 6/24/2015 1:39:32 AMPeople need to stop coming up with such great ideas, it makes me really crave them... This would be so badass!

Minimum of 14 players? That's a little much. I rarely ever see 10 players in the same server with me. And if patrol enemies were higher, noobs would get their ass handed to them.
-
Bump.
-
Who in their right mind wouldn't want this?
-
Rare spawns with special loot tables could be a cool idea too.
-
Bump it.

What about a once a week boss reward. Every week, you log on, and you go to a destination. You shift around the zones until you feel it. Faint, but it's there. The distinct thud-thud-thud vibration of footfalls. Massive footfalls. This is it. You'd best have brought your cojones. Now you've found the area, you need to scout it's trigger. It could be anything. A chest. A relic. A marking, that when read out summons the beast (imagine using voice chat to do this, seriously cool). I'm going to use one example. Turns out you have to activate the mini spires dotted around the hellmouth. They burn fiercely, and you feel your strength ebb. A crazed shriek burns the air, and the ground itself shudders as something drags itself to the surface. An ogre climbs out of the pit. You caught them breeding Phogoth... You banished gulrot... Seems like you missed one. This guy is HUGE. Like comparing a shank to a walker. You don't have time to prepare, and all hell breaks loose. The eye blasts are less of an auto fire, more of a cannon blast, maybe even a mortar that fractures. The smash kills you in one, clearly. The guy would probably put you 30 foot underground. Those pillars are also against you. Your strength ebbs nearby to them. So you cut a mad, zigzag dash across the terrain, dodging blast after blast and spire after spire. Your targets are his joints. Take out a knee, he slows. Take out an elbow, his smash become weaker and less frequent. You can even take out an eye and his accuracy falls. This is the biggest difference needed here. These things need to be damn near indestructible unless you hit the weak spots. I also think it would properly cement each class's roles. Defenders keeping people going and providing true support through buffs and respite points, acting as that ever-needed shadow of backup and frontline artillery. Voidwalkers decimating hordes of enemies, cascading orb after orb in the wake of purple rain. Bladedancers zipping around, dragging the enemy here and there to split the horde and divide their attention before striking at the heart. I love the idea of a call to arms for all guardians in the vicinity. Having all 16 guardians hammering a skyscraper sized ogre, or a scuttling vex leviathan, or a cabal tank (think the Imperialis from warhammer) or taking on a whole legion of fallen at once... These should be of the difficulty whereby it's like you playing skolas at level 32. 3 levels down is not impossible if you communicate, but you don't stand a hope in hell if you don't. Though I guess that means PUBLIC VOICE CHAT IS NEEDED HINT HINT. Rewards? A mega box of unique loot. Proper trophy armour that screams "i took on the biggest, baddest bastard out there and won". Massive XP gains. Weapons a guardian could dream of. A buff comparable to Nightfall's. The list goes on. Make no mistake, these aren't raid rewards, where you can do it with 3 if you work together, and who cares if they need carrying a bit. I'm talking the level whereby if your head isnt on a swivel, and you aren't doing your part, you're down, and you failed. Your team needs you, and you need them.

Have a water based Fallen Walker come up out of the ocean and actually move around the area releasing Shanks everywhere. Where it dies lies 2 chest. Mars. In amongst the sand city the streets swell with Cabal roaring defiance. Can you take down the Lieutenants? Or In front if the gate to the black garden a giant Minataur Walks out with a Hydra with it and endless Vex. They war with the Cabal that defend the wall. Only by eliminating both the Minatur and the Cabal Lieutenants will troops stop arriving from the Gate or Cabal drop ships. Thing is. The Hydra gives the Minatur an over Sheild. If destroyed another will shortly arrive if there are any Cabal Lieutenants. On the Moon Hive could crawl from the Hellmouth like Ogres. From both Hive entrances swarm hive troops to join the fight to protect shrines around the Hellmouth area. Basically a large scale Warsat that unless each Shrine is crumbled by our Light all the Hive burn away on the Surface in sacrifice. Venus could have a bunch of Hydras appear on the Steps were the Gate Lord was. As each one is Destroyed more Vex units appear so at the very last Hydra there are swarms about.

What's this? A thoughtful suggestion in the sea of repeat threads with the same title "Like Smith"?! :D
-
Amazing idea! Sounds like it would be really fun.
-
Great world boss for Mars would e fighting one of the legitly giant imperial land tanks.
-
-
This idea.. Its making me get a semi hard on!...
-
They can barely stabalise 6 man raids, how will Bungie go stabalising a 14+man zone
-
Also in wow(world of Warcraft) but yes this is awesome bump

Edited by ThyLordIntrovert: 6/24/2015 6:58:13 AMFor Mars I would suggest it is located outside the land tank, when the boss spawns the door closes before players get there to see it and when the boss actually makes it appearance the entry to the land tank hisses with pneumatics and the boss makes its way down the ramp escorted by an elite phalanx squad, this squad would be projecting a bubble shield onto the boss and must be taken down before the boss can be harmed, also to harm the boss you would need to shoot down one of the two elite centurions (these centurions would have unique jet packs that allowed real flight instead of just jumps) and grab an EMP or something that the player who carried it would have to sneak around behind the boss while their team distracted if and plant it on the boss locking up the bosses mech armour allowing players to fire on it until the cabal war mech started up again. After doing this a new wave of elite cabal would come the the mechs aid, and after enough damage a new mechanic would be added. It could be called a cabal Zeus mech or something, I don't know..... Other boss area could be the black garden entrance
