The VoG. an amazing place, perhaps the most lore-filled thing in destiny. it connects to thorn, tlw, hive, fallen, cabal, vex, traveler, guardians, and basically everything in the destiny universe in some way.
This is theory on how kabr "destroyed" himself to forge the aegis.
considering the vex are all about greek and roman times, I decided to relate pieces of the vog back to greek times. I found some interesting things. first of all, the word Kabr meant grave. keep that in mind, not death, not dying, not not-living anymore, GRAVE. a grave is something used to remember and record the death of something or someone.
The aegis was a goatskin shield used by Zeus and Athena in greek mythology. it had a gorgons head attached to it. as we all know, the vault of glass has gorgons in it. these erase you from existence. what if Kabr forged the relic using a gorgon body. many people believe this to be the case. I for one did not, but after further research, it fits into the puzzle rather nicely. Kabr most likely used the gorgon's ability to erase things from existence to forge the relic, but this time the technology was in reverse. he made the relic keep you in existence, in other words, he destroyed the record of your non-existence, or destroyed or GRAVE. he either meant "I destroyed myself to do this" metaphorically, or both that and physically, as he used his own light to forge the shield. this does not mean he died though. I already have a theory on the possible reason he did not die, or did not go out of existence, but I need to do a bit more research to prove it. basically, this is a theory on the nature of the relic, and how it prevents you from being negated.
