Alrighty everyone. I just finished my Freshman year of Highschool but did no sports at all. I've decided to turn things around and go all out this summer. I want to get fit so I can do sports in spring.
The question is, how?
I'm about 5'4" and weigh around 107 pounds, so I'm not overweight or anything (I'm actually kind of thin), and I'm not extremely out of shape. I'm just... average. But how do I become above average?
I want to do Track and Tennis, with Track being the bigger priority for me. (I've already taken 2 sets of Tennis lessons, so I think I'm set for the school team). I'm just so overwhelmed by the wealth of information on the internet though, and don't know where to start with these things.
What would be a good workout regiment for me? I want to be a more "endurance runner" in track going longer distances rather than short ones. Should I start with a mile a day?should I run before breakfast? Should I avoid or eat carbs?
I also want to strengthen my arms and abs. I want a 6 pack, but again, am not sure how to do it. Should I do just push ups and crunches?
Another reason I want to get in shape is to prove people wrong, and to build confidence. I'm tired of people in my family and school thinking I'll only ever be good at math and English. I want to show them that I have what it takes to succeed, and hopefully, I can wow some people when I get back to school this fall. I'm also rather shy, and while I don't look bad, getting in shape will make me look good, thus building my confidence.
Any help is EXTREMELY appreciated! Hopefully, this will be the summer I turn my life around!
