Another concept for a character in Destiny, created using ZBrush and Photoshop + Lightroom.
I added a close-up shot for you guys here: http://i.imgur.com/WNzzGkG.jpg
I wanted to create a character that had obvious Hive aesthetics, but had a seemingly human like face, achieved potentially by some form of Hive sorcery. Try to imagine that this character has a high sense of vanity, being almost clerical in his duties and proud of his hateful campaigns.
"NAEN GENATH
THE DARK CONDUIT
The return of Oryx marks the beginning of a galactic decline. Darkness has manifested itself in every corner, willing Oryx to purge light and cast the blackest shadow across the world.
Naen Genath commands an ancient artifact, the brain of an Alpha Dark imbued and enchanted with Hive scripture. The brain commands Oryx’s troops, and grants them new powers which can be changed by Naen depending on the combat situation.
Naen has become one with the artifact, a conduit and conductor for it’s diabolical power. Through him, Oryx controls the once untameable beasts that lurk in the cracks between the dark.
NAEN GENATH ENCOUNTER
Guardians face off against Naen as well as his cohort of enchanted wizard comrades. When weakened, Naen will detach himself from the artifact, making it vulnerable whilst healing Naen. Once the artifact is weakened enough, it can be stripped from his fingers and destroyed.
The artifact grants Naen a poisoned shield, which can be damaged by all weapon types but is able to recharge quickly. Some say the enchantment holds close translation to scriptures linked to the power within Thorn; pierce the poisonous veil and inject your own venom to destroy it from within."

That's just fantastic. I'm an amateur airbrush artist, and have a few pieces planned that I was going to post. Not so sure now, I don't think I can compete with that much awesome! Great work though. How long have you been producing digital art (I apologise if this is the wrong description), to get to this level of skill? Roughly how long did this piece take? And if my experience airbrushing is anything to go by, how many times did you get absorbed in your work, look up, and think "oh shit, is that the time?!" Lol, so many times I've gone to work with too little sleep after getting to caught up in my art the night before.
