So I'm more then likely not the only one who's been combing over all the footage on youtube of the taken king. But I felt like I'd create a thread with some things people may have missed or my own guesses on somethings.
Firstly I wanted to point out the build everyone played at E3 was confirmed to be an out dated pre alpha build. This was tweeted out as a response when the news of light level 50 was flooding the place. Basically all it meant was things might change in the final product.
Next thing is that the expansion itself is slated to be 40 gigs. 40 GIGS. Destiny right now on current gen with both dlc's is only 25. That is an insane amount of content we are going to get.
Confirmed "content" in the taken king: at least 1 raid, at least 2 strikes (because one for everyone and one for PS,) new story missions, new patrol and event missions, a new patrol area, quests, artifacts, class items give XP boosts, new light level, new legendary an exotic gear, 3 new sub classes, new enemy race called the taken. New pvp maps.
Light level moved to guns. Armor at least in the build we saw no longer has a light stat. Just stat rolls and perks. and from looking at the weapons there isn't a stat either. just a light level number. So sufficed to say leveling up will more then likely be different in year 2. I'm left wondering exactly how light levels work. And more wondering if this means level 30 will be the new soft cap because of our 3rd subclass. I'm guessing this because they put a heavy emphasis on being 30 and the fact that something called artifacts in our menu is locked unless you are level 30.
Regardless of how it's done to me this looks like a more simplified streamlined experience. Doing away with ascending and needing materials to reach the gear's max potential. Perhaps this will allow our current exotics to stay relevant. It also means that choosing gear is even more about preference and fashion rather then needing a particular set of armor to hit the cap. We also see with armor that they can now have downsides as well. http://imgur.com/a/jxSQO?desktop=1 On one of the pieces of armor it stats "void burn now does 2x damage instead of 3." But if you notice the rest of the armor a lot of things give you extra super energy.
quests! Personally I don't know. But if I had to guess it might be the way we get our 3rd subclass. Then again they did say those were tied into the story. So who knows? My only other guess is "quests" will be a different type of activity. A way to get exotics. instead of relying on RNG to get one or a randomly earned bounty perhaps we finally have reliable, challenging, and interesting way to get the best gear in the game.
I came across this idea because IGN (i think) did an interview with someone at bungie in the bast few days. Ghorn was brought up. He said he believed it was so coveted because it was the ultimate "I make things go boom" gun. He stressed that they wanted the rest of their exotics to be that sought after and that amazing/coveted. He directly stated "we are not currently talking today about how we are handling exotics." To me this means perhaps more powerful exotics rather then situational ones that most fall under. and that handling may mean how you earn them. Just my take on it though. it's pretty vague.
On a final note in that same video he basically let it slip that mayhem is going to be rotational. Which I don't mind. I was actually hoping rift would have a perm spot. And in the vidoc we see a night stalker use both shade step and fire multiple arrows. Considering those both require perks in the same tree I think the hunter may either have had an exotic on OR artifacts can allow you to bend your subclasses a bit.
As for my own thoughts i'm pretty damned pumped for this expansion. Bungie really nailed it on the new subclasses and they continue with the trend of making warlocks broken haha. Year 2 seems like bungie is big on changes. Leveling seems much different. They already re vamped weapons and armor trees. we are getting more interesting perks for gear and downsides so balancing still matters to them. And if i'm right about the exotic ideas they seek to finally make things even less RNG based which is still a big complaint for most. One thing is for sure. Warlocks and titans can't bitch about hunter supers being OP anymore. both get single target supers that act like a switch. just like hunters.

You might want to adjust 40 gigs size Rumor was Taken King is 40 gigs and current Destiny with both dlcs (DarkB, HoW) is 25 However new info has stated that's legendary edition download that comes with Destiny vanilla , DarkB, HoW and TTK Soooooo 40-25 =15. TTK sounds like alone it's closer to 10-15 range with some patches, updates, and whatever else they are adding (collectors stuff, those emotes, 3 shaders, 3 exotic class items, etc).
