I'll be playing SWTOR instead, the new expansion is FREE for all subscribers.
My cost to play Destiny for 1 year with very limited repetitive content - $140 for base game and expansion pass + Taken King
My cost to play SWTOR for the last year with an amazing amount of content - Game was F2P, spent about $20 on cartel coins to unlock some quick bars and basic features. $20 for the Revan Expansion which added in 2 new planets, a ton of PVE/PVP content, new expansive and immersive story quests and several end game raid/flashpoints/dungeons. I eventually picked up a sub to support the game at $12.99 a month and that was back in December so 7 X 12.99 = $90.93 cents. They constantly update the game with free patches and support, listen to the community, and have all kinds of extra player features.
I have a ship that I can walk around in, with a vault to store items, receive mail, there is an on-rails arcade style space shooter with my ship, or I can play Starfighter PVP with ship to ship combat and dogfights. Oh and I get the new Warlock subclass for free, it's called Sith Sorcerer and I can use lightning as my primary, don't have to wait for it to charge.
So I've paid approximately the same amount of money for two different games, one that has a boat load more content and a developer that continually updates and adds content to the game, and is giving away the next major story expansion for Free along with several goodies like a speeder, cosmetic items, etc. as long as you are subbing to the game a month or two before the expansion comes out, not if you just buy some silly collectors editions. It is amazing how Activision has surpassed EA easily as the worst publisher in the business with their really shady business practices and money grubbing from Destiny. You can't even check out TTK's new features and subclass without them having a huge icon on the screen to go buy a new subclass t-shirt, lol.
So that is why I'm putting Destiny away for a bit. If the Taken King somehow deliveres on what was promised back in 2013 and gets rave reviews, maybe I'll check it out, but I'm done at this point giving Bungie/Activision anymore money based on the 3 prior trailers/vidocs we got for Destiny and what was delivered in terms of the content. Some of you never learn, seeing a fancy trailer and a vidoc and thinking all is going to be right with Destiny, lol.

This isn't really a personal response to you but your SWTOR reference made me think, I get what you're saying but as a day one SWTOR player ( I unsubbed and quit playing when they added the cartel market ) let me just say this. EA is to Bioware what Activision is to Bungie. It's the publishers job to make a game profitable. Which usually translates into doing things that we as users arn't going to like. People bitch and complain way too much. If you're not happy with the direction the game you're playing is taking then it's simple, quit playing and walk away. That action says volumes more than bitching on forums until the end of time. I couldn't stand the direction SWTOR was taking. Coupled with issues I already had with the game, I decided it was time to walk. I quit giving them my money and quit playing their game. I didn't make a big dramatic forum post about it, I just walked away. One last thing, You know how many times I've been back to the SWTOR forums since then? 0

I remember that, and I left the game for awhile, but they've really made it a lot better since. The Cartel Market and going F2P actually saved that game in the end and they saw player population come back a bit, plus their two expansions they've done have been really good. Personal opinion is I think Activision is worse than EA. EA wants their microtransactions, but other than that they allow Bioware to do some really good stuff with SWTOR and also with the Mass Effect/Dragon Age series, where as I think Activision cockblocks Bungie on everything and says they can't do it unless they can charge money for DLC. Activision has a long history of being too "hands on" with its developers.
