I'm not part of a clan. I've never been in one, never cared to join one nor do I think I ever will. But there are many Guardians out there who are in clans or are looking to join one. Unfortunately, from my understanding regulating clan activity and even joining a clan in Destiny is nonexistent. So here's my pitch, it's probably been suggested before but what the hey: what if we were to have a vender that allows Guardians to create, regulate, and join clans?
This might be a bit of a read.
It would be like a cross between the vender menu and the "start"/"options" menu. The vender would be on the left as usual, and on the right there would be a list that looks the same as the player list which you can find by pressing start/options then scroll left via left bumper button.
There would be different categories which you can toggle through with the bumper buttons. One category would be Clans, which would list all of the clans that would in Destiny. You could look for specific clans by typing one in, or filter clans by alphabetical order, newest, oldest, largest, smallest, class specific, etc. And when you select one, it would show you the clan's description: who they are, what they are about, stuff like that. And to the side there would be options like join clan, send message to clan leader... (Again I've never been in a clan so I am not sure how this clan stuff normally works).
Another category could be Requests: simply put, it would be similar to the Recruitment forum that we have here. The difference would be that it's clan leaders that post the requests. There would be 2 types of requests, public requests which are available for anyone and private requests which are only accessible to clan members. Searching for requests would be similar to searching for clans, albeit different categories.
For Clan leaders, they would have an exclusive category called Management... Or something like that. Basically it would be where clan leaders manage clan activity. For instance, say that a clan member didn't participate in a Strike and gets reported. A Clan leader will be able to see that report From Management and contact that player via message. They can contact other members, leaders, and even admins. As for what it would look like, It would feature a list of all current clan members which can be filtered of course.
(For regular members it would be called something like Contacts. Minus being able to contact admins and being able to see player reports it functions just like Management.)
Well that's my pitch for the day, what do you guys think?

A clan vendor would be nifty but isn't really necessary, bungie just needs to simplify the process of joining a clan. Clan tag: Gatekeepers of Time
