I've not said much on TTK recently. I wanted to take some time to digest the information we have at our disposal.
Firstly the price of TTK doesn't concern me AT ALL. I work long hours and have very little gaming time so I have devoted it to one game generally - Destiny. The fact that I can jump in and patrol for 10 minutes or raid for a few hours works for me.
Regarding TTK collectors editions and legendary editions - Great idea - they're lowering the barrier to adoption and bringing new players in. Some may complain that new player costs are lower than old player costs. That's the way early adoption works. I'd rather see Destiny receive new blood than see it bleed out.
So what is the problem you ask? A small detail which is significant to those who have made Destiny their main gaming choice since September 9th 2014 or sometime shortly after that.
VIP Players will get rewards BUT some who has NEVER played Destiny before can (before August 31st) just buy the full Destiny experience and get all the VIP rewards too.
I believe that players who have put the time and effort in since 'day one' (day one meaning long term players) should get something unique for their time in Destiny. A
I'd be fine if new players got a year 2 emblem to show they were on board at the start of year 1.
Then there is the issue of emotes, exotic class items etc only being available to new purchases.
TL;DR - new players can order Destiny Digital Collector's Edition on August 31st and become a VIP immediately without having played before.
Long time players need to be valued and should not be treated as less than new players. They are the ones who have helped mold this experience to what it is today.
