So what if they decide down the road to go with a marketing model that allows the base game to be free to play up to a certain level cap (say lvl 20 just because) and charge for downloading dlc only. It is a very viable business model and one that others have done and done well with. Would you then bitch about having paid $100 for the original collectors edition that gave you exclusive sparrows, armor, weapons, ghost shell, etc?
The phone comparison is irrelevant. I bought an iPhone 4 when it was new for full price (not even the $200 promo price because I wasn't eligible for the upgrade at the time). A year or two later, that phone was available for $100 as a promo deal, and is now (or at least was) the "free" promo phone. Am I upset? Not at all. It is an old phone.
Same goes for the game. Vanilla destiny is old and outdated. The ways of leveling your vanilla weapons and characters is long gone. Shards and energies are pretty much useless. Even the way we had to level things in TDB have gone by the wayside and is outdated. Can you still play the old missions and strikes? Yes. Can you still use an original iPhone? Yep.
So basically...
Boohoo.
