Dear Bungie (and Activision)
I, as a day one player, won't be purchasing the new expansion for $40 when I end up spending $20 more than new players (even more because I bought the Ghost Edition but we'll ignore that and just assume I bought the vanilla game) and they get cool exclusive content like exotic class items (with permanent XP bonuses) that loyal players don't. That's where I draw the line. I want those exotic class items but I'm not going to be suckered into spending $80 to get awesome exclusive items that noobs get while us loyal players are left in the cold. Not cool, Bungie. I think you're going to lose a lot of devoted fans over this bullshit. If you include all the new exclusive digital content with the $40 expansion for players who already own the previous games and expansions, there's a chance I might purchase it. If not, I'm going elsewhere and it's been a fun ride. Really disappointed in the dishonest marketing on display here. Why would you punish your most loyal fans? It's a sad day. /rant

They will most likely be giving all players these items. They will announce it 2 days before the Taken King's release to build hype and get people to purchase. They are trying to distract you and others from the lack of content by keeping your mind on the exclusives. I will not get this even if they add the exclusive content. We are paying way too much for a raid that should have been in House of Wolves and a bunch of story missions played on current maps backwards.
-
Agree. I spent 100 bucks on this game already. If I stick to their plan I'll be giving destiny 1k before their 10 year plan is over
-
I don't mind the price break for the new folks, the game is a year old and it seems reasonable. I want the emotes, tho. Why can't they just give those to everyone??
-
So kind of like a year after a great game gets released the game does really well and the company releases a GotY edition and has all dlc in it for the regular price? Damn what company would ever do that?!?!
-
I totally understand. I know most overlook this subject, saying that they don't care and all. However, I don't have a problem paying 40$. What I have problem with is that I have already spent 100$ on this game. If you include the 40$ for the new DLC (which I will buy), that adds to 140$. The new players spend 60$, get all DLCs, and extra things to enhance their game playing. I have been playing since Christmas, and have put many hours into this game. I think it would be fair to at least give the people who have HoW and DB beforehand something special in return. I'm not whining, I'm just saying that something isn't right here.
-
It's garbage They are literally giving old players ZERO benefits. You want the exclusive content, cough up 30$ for something you ALREADY OWN. It's downright robbery. Bungie I am extremely disappointed, this is very lucrative and downright wrong. Please make it an option for players who have already purchased the dlc and vanilla game, to still be able to get the exclusive items. I can't fathom how you have not thought this may occur. I am hoping an alternate method will come, but if not, the respect I had for this company will be gone.
-
Don't listen to these naysayers, this is a problem. One, however, that will be overlooked.. whatever it is that Bunjie/Activison is planning they know they are gaining more players than losing with this stunt as well as the other ones they have done in the past. It sucks man. It really does. I want to say I'm over but the Gears of War beta is almost up and better games won't be coming out till next year... We'll see what happens.
-
In the eyes of bungievision there is only people who bought the game already with the dlcs and people who haven't bought the game and would like to buy it...
-
Not buying it for 40.
-
Bump. I love destiny but the new slogan should be "Noobs are our gods"
-
unfortunately, there are too many fanboys who will continue paying out the a-- for anything Destiny related that bungie throws at them, for whatever price. A fool and his money are soon parted.
-
I agree but it's not bungie. It's activition who are the money whores who always like to squeeze as much money out as possible. Destiny would have been way better without activition.
-
My issue is strictly price vs content. I bought destiny and the expansion pass on faith that bungie makes good games. After being super let down by the fact there wasn't much to the game I stuck it out for both the dlc's because I had already paid for it. Now they want 40$ for stuff the same amount of content as the vanilla game or maybe close to it? Sorry not going haapen. I mean lets get real both these so called dlc's are basically patches to the vanilla that we paid for. There's been little to no story advancement even less understanding of what's happening in the game world. And they want $40 for the last subclass we should have had and the other planets we should have had. Sorry I'm not doing it. There's no reason for the $40 fee. Not for the lack of content the other two dlc's had in them. If you buy into their scheme's and want to pay the asinine price do so at your own risk. I will not. I'll wait for the division and fallout 4. TL;DR if you buy this xpack your a sucker. I have some quarters I'll sell you for a dollar.

Edit: I received alot of love! Keeep pushing! We will get what we want! We want our Day One veteran Collector Edition To!!! Bungie Will listen!!! : "So just found out that you'll be able to get the Taken King, Dark Below, and House of Wolves, plus the Destiny game for $79.99 dollars, plus other game swag like a replica of a strange coin and a steel cover with pictures, and a bunch of other stuff... Wtf is this #Bungie ? I payed $60, well actually almost $500 because I bought the white edition PS4 that came with Destiny, but let's just say it was $60, then I payed $35 for the the season pass that gave me the first two expansions, so $100 in total for The game and 2 expansions, and now you're releasing another Destiny game, with all the DLC for $79.99? Taken King is $40, Dark Below is $20 and House of Wolves is $20 so that's $80 in just Dlc, the game is $60, so $140 is what we since day 1 have to pay, but if you buy this new Destiny game, not only do you get a great deal, because you save 40% , but you also get exclusive Exotic Class Items (3 exotic class items) that give you extra XP for doing things, 3, not 1, but 3 shaders, and 3 class emotes, whatever that means, but we that have to pay for everything separate, we that have been with #Bungie and #Destinythegame Since day 1, get screwed over this bad? And by that I mean, that all we get is one stupid shader that probably is gonna look horrible, since y'all didn't even bother with the House of Wolves Expansion shaders, one sparrow that is really nothing special at all, its just for show like the ships, and one emblem that already looks bad, and that doesn't give you any boost or anything, just for show. How's this fair at all? And all this is for the digital copies, the hard copy? Even cheaper, at $59.99, and it still comes with all the dlc, but it doesn't come with the extra swag, still, how's this even fair?"
-
You will buy the Taken King, and you will like it. And you will not give a squirt of piss about some stupid items designed to help a new player get up to speed faster.
-
Preach brotha!!!
-
I agree. Bumping
-
All I read was "dear bungie I am a broke peasant and mommy and daddy won't give me money to keep on playing destiny".
-
So who's going to be exploring the cosmos with me in no mans sky?
-
I absolutely agree. My clan is 64 deep and right now we only have 2 out of 64 that have preordered. Everyone pretty much agrees its a slap in the face. The digital freebies crossed the line for the majority of us while some said price. The exotic xp bonus was the most hated. Yea we know all are above 20 but your talking a boost to all new weapons and armor and thats like a nightfall completion bonus without the work, that adds up over time. It just feels like they are constantly beating on their most loyal players. What kills me is the people who come in here defending it. I could go on and on, but whats the point. Too many options and bungie aparently doesnt put a value on loyalty.
-
Yup, I've played since beta and I very much doubt I'll be getting ttk. The fact that the loyal people that actually stuck with the game get nothing, and the ridiculous price just make that decision easier to make. Plenty of amazing games coming out later this year and for me that $40 would be better spent being put towards one of those.

*Deej looks at post Deej: "Oh no..." *Deej runs out of his house, gets in his car to get to the office. It breaks down. So he goes on foot. He crosses the deserts, climbs mountains, sail the deadly seas. He must get this information to Harold Ryan, the president of Bungie. Finally, Deej reaches his destination. He is exhausted. Deej is drenched in sweat and hardly able to breath. He could fall over dead any minute. Deej: "Mr. Ryan sir...Denver won't buy TTK." Ryan: "Who?" Deej: "Denver, sir..." Ryan: "My god...bring me the button." *Deej breaks open a glass box on the wall labeled Use in case of emergency. He pulls out a button from the scattered remains and hands it to Ryan. Ryan pushes the button Confetti pops everywhere and a banner drops that reads No One Cares in bright bold letters. A faint "Yea" can be heard in the background. Ryan: "Money well spent." *Looks over to Deej Ryan: "Now get back to work and remember to tell me every time someone says they won't buy TTK. I just love using this button."
not mine, I just use it for this scenario
Kids nowadays think that video game companies should work for peanuts. It's unbelievable.
-
Letter to day one player, from an alpha test player. It's sad to see someone crying out loud just because the exotic items the new players will get if they pre-order the game. I know you will say something like it's about the price and who much you spent in the game but you are not fooling anyone, you're mad because of the exotic items and that's it. I draw the line here because it's pathetic to see this kind of post from "veteran" players just because of those in game items. I hope you'll actually reconsider your actions and stop crying about digital content that in the long run you'll probably use for a week or two and then forget about it. Sincerely, an Alpha test player.

Put many hours into this game and got them to -blam!- veteran players over like this is ridiculous. Thank god for backwards compatibility! Looks like I'm getting back to skyrim. It's been real destiny
