It's Official; Bungie doen't give two shits about anyone who's been loyal
I was dedicated enough, or stupid enough, to buy the Ghost Edition of Destiny when it came out. I played the beta, and was in love with the game from the very begging. I have consistently played this game from launch, knowing that all of it's issues would be solved with time. It slowly has become what is one of my favorite games in existence. However, despite my dedication and willingness to show faith in their game by buying the Ghost Edition, I have found myself shunned and ignored along with everyone else who has played the game from launch by the announcement of the new Collector's Edition. Though it doesn't have a replica ghost, it does seem to have more items that are worth money. Sure that's not all that bad to begin with. These things happen. Unfortunately there is one major issue. THE THING IS ONLY $80!!!!
They are literally rewarding new players for ignoring their game up to this point, and are giving everyone who's stuck with it since launch the cold shoulder. I honestly wouldn't care if it was at least close to the $150 that the Ghost Edition cost. Instead they get both more content and more stuff for almost half the price!
Bump if you agree that this is wrong and shouldn't be tollerated
EDIT: A lot of people seem to be assuming that I am ignorant of the fact that Bungie/Activision are companies and that they need to make money. I am fully aware of this. This isn't them making money out of duty or making money for having a great product. This is making money by way of bullshit, which is best dealt with by showing said company that we as a community will not tolerate said bullshit. Best way to assure that they see this is to be vocal about our opinions on their bullshit. How else would anything improve?
Also, I apologize if it seems like I'm blatantly disagreeing with people, but I feel strongly about this, and I want a good discussion about this topic, not the normal yes/no forum post
EDIT: When I say Bungie, I really mean Activision+Bungie as I'm certain it's a combination of both of them, and that its mostly being pushed by Activision. Sorry for the confusion

Lucky you're not in Australia my two options for TTK are $69.99 or $119.99 I don't think I'm willing to pay $180 -$220 a year for destiny.

1 ReplyAt first I felt the same way, but when you take time to actually think about it... What game company has EVER truly rewarded their loyal fans? As you are aware they are in business to make money. You pay for early adoption. My Xbox was $500 when I bought it. It's much less now. This is just how it goes. The only loyalty I've ever seen are stupid cosmetic things in game, which we will get when we order the Taken King expansion. The only time content is ever free is when the game company opts to make it as such. It has nothing to do with loyalty.

There's a few ways to make money. You can get people to willingly hand $$ over for GOOD QUALITU CONTENT at REASONABLE PRICES or You can get people to unwillingly hand $$ over for SH!T CONTENT at RIDICULOUS PRICES How do you achieve the second? The customer base would have to consist a large majority of brain-dead morons that don't work for a living.

First i understand the game been out for a while so its gonna cost less to buy it now. But it does seem they are going for revenue which a company does. They might get new players in but old players who been here are gonna get tired of feeling yank around. Every dlc they have put out has screwed early players. Its the principal of it dont screw loyal fans to try and reach a new fan base.

7 RepliesIts upsets me that new people can buy the game with the first two dlcs and the taken king for $60. They're basically buying the complete game that we thought we were getting at launch for the same price we paid. The people then who bought the game at launch bought the season pass for $35 and now the taken king for $40. $135 for people who have been with this game at launch and before that and $60 for people who are just deciding to pick up the game now is complete bullshit.

Release a game, add dlc, then sell it a year later with all dlc plus some new stuff & sell it for the price of a new game, even though it's a year old. How many times have you read people say "I'm going to wait for the full game to come out, & buy the GOTY"? Because I've seen it tons

5 RepliesDo you have a job? Because I have a job and like the fact I get paid more than once a year for doing said job. People go to work everyday and develop the games you play as a hobby. They deserve to get paid to create these, "escapes from normal life," for us. Now I get many of you think you should get All of the content Destiny has to offer, for $60. But lets get real here. The cost of everything goes up every year. So to must the cost of our entertainment. If it didn't no one would do it for a living. And we wouldn't have video games as a hobby. We are getting a raid, new strikes, new places to patrol, new pvp modes and maps. As well as 3 new subclasses to level and experiment with. That's not even counting new gear and guns. If you cannot appreciate the time and energy it took to create all that, buy accepting to pay the cost of 2 to 3 movie dates, then you need to grow up. Seems like a lot of content for $40. And it's on you if you couldn't see this coming when they said there was a 10 year plan for Destiny.

But what they aren't understanding is the people that are mad about the dlc are mad because they enjoy the game as well. Pay walls and devaluing loyal players hurts. Just don't buy the dlc man.
