Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or:
Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game
Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II
Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order'
-------------------wait for it------------------
That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60.
Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that.
And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way?
Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today.
How the hell does this make sense?
You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards).
"Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift,
Your own Edition of The Taken King.
I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites.
BUMP if you agree with even one part of this.
--- out ---
EDIT:
Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example:
You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one.
Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade.
Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!!
Does that help even one of you naysayers get it?
Edit 2:
For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid):
Did slavery come to an end?
Did the holocaust come to an end?
Did the USSR come to and end?
Did the wall in Germany get torn down?
Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own.
Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right!
Edit 3:
Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else:
http://www.quotehd.com/imagequotes/TopAuthors/albert-einstein-physicist-insanity-doing-the-same-thing-over-and-over-again-and.jpg
I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it.
There will always be change. Who will do it first?
Edit 4:
You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument:
Bungie can rename the DLC to be
$39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions.
We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders.
* There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered.
Edit 5:
Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!!
Edit 6:
There were Alpha players
There were Beta players
Then came Day-1-ers
We can call the next gen the 'Vets'
Along comes Xmas Noobs
Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians
But this latest generation will forever be known as:
THE BUNDLE- BABIES
I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise.
If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!!

EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own.
Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities.
We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!

$500,000,000 to create Destiny. Where's the value? Oh wait it's dlc :(

-
Way of the world...
-
Comparing TTK to SLAVERY and DICTATORSHIPS?!?!? What's wrong with you?
-
Need to get some of that $500 mill back somehow, my £40 is going towards phantom pain not this overpriced bullshit

You've been playing this game for over a year. Just buy it and shut the -blam!- up. Is it fair? No, but life isn't; just be happy that so many people interested in playing this game, that haven't been enjoying it for over ONE YEAR have an opportunity to catch up to us with this awesome deal. I come here to talk about this game, not complain about not paying for shit I don't have the money for. If you want it, buy it. If you don't, then shut the -blam!- up so those of us that want to buy it can enjoy talking about it. Go away. No more complaining, just go away.
-
Sweet manifesto, psychopath. I tried really hard to trudge through this mess of a post, but this is just giving me eye herpes. If you don't want it, don't buy it. Just know that EVERYTHING depreciates in value over time. Personally, I welcome the infusion of new players while simultaneously the bitter little fuktards like you will begin to taper off. I'd pay $60 or more for TTK if it meant you would disappear.
-
Woahhhhh dude, trying to compare this to the Holocaust or slavery? The -blam!- are you taking about? You got everything early, that's what you pay for, even if you are salty about it, don't compare it to genocide you -blam!-ing idiot
-
Yeah its a waste of time to play...to have played destiny.
-
You're comparing something as simple as economic depreciation to millions of people dying and dictatorships? What in the literal -blam!- is wrong with you?
-
I bought mass effect for $60. And me2 for $60, and me3 for $60. Why can people buy all 3 now for $20 or less when I spent $180? Maybe because as games get older, less people are buying them, so the price goes down to get more people to buy them. Now, next time before making a dumb ass post that makes you look retarded, use your brain first.
-
GameStop owes me a free game. I paid full price for my game on day one and now they are selling it used for waaaaaay cheaper. I want my money back. Microsoft store is selling a 50% discounted digital guardian edition this week. I paid full price! They owe me a refund! You sound so stupid. Pay up or gtfo
-
Destiny 1 is selling now for 20, the expansion for 34. TTK for 40. So instead of spending $94, they are selling everything for $80. It is really no different from buying the Combined package for 90 instead of Destiny 1, TDB and HoW for 100. What you paid a year ago is no longer relevant.

Edited by DFRO1311: 6/19/2015 5:55:07 AMWhat I dont understand is how much the dlc and game devalued so quickly. Millions of people still play destiny so it shouldnt be too cheap. I understand that they want to incentivise people to buy but dam. Gta5 and call of duty are still over 30 dollars and so is destiny. It takes years for dlcs to devalue and most never devalue so the season pass should still be $35 and taken king $40( also remember these dlcs literally dropped 1 month and 7 months ago). So lets put those in a bundle. It would be at minimum $105 with game being at $30. Thats $45 more than the current $60 price tag. Lets also say as a bundle its cheaper by about 20% which is a reasonable amount. 20% of $105 is $84. Lets also say bungie rounds down to $80. Even then thats still $20 more than the bundle theyre selling now. How did bungie decide that their not even year old game and dlcs are are now essentially worthless and should be given out for free. As the bundle stands the game and season pass combined are $20(which was the cost of HoW ALONE, which came out 1 month ago which means its lost 0 value) and Taken King being $40 as it brand new. Why did bungie make it so cheap? They must be desperate. Im not complaining btw. Its just weird.

Edited by Andy-ALAW BEEP-BEEP: 6/19/2015 2:08:36 PMhow are you getting screwed over the original game will be a year old when ttk launches and not be worth what you paid for it a year ago
-
Give you the Taken King for Free? Give me a break. $40 is fine, as long as enough content is there. The only issue is whether or not new players are getting additional in-game items when they buy the game & all expansions.
-
Why does he drive a Kia Soul? I could not be buddies with anyone who drives a Kia Soul.
-
I'm only paying $40.. Who said we have to pay more?
-
Nope. We're calling them twoobs Year two noobs. Twoobs.
-
Edited by goduvthnder1221: 6/19/2015 5:47:03 AMI understand what your saying, but I look at it like most games. They start at $60 then drop to $50 after a couple months (depending on demand) then to $40, etc. I used to never buy newly released games because I was okay waiting a year or so for the price to half. If you want it now it'll cost you or you can wait and get it cheaper when demand dies down and the price drops.
I have enough money now to pay the extra $$ to buy a game on release when the occasional fancy strikes.
-
I agree with you up until the point where you state you want it for free. You sound like an spoiled bitch. All the content is overpriced. The dlc's should have been $10, and TTK should have been $20. That's Activision's fault though. They decide the price.
-
They better change this fucking bullshit.
-
I don't mind the $60 bundle, it will hopefully bring new players, but the expansion itself damn well better be worth a $40 price tag. That's almost the price of a whole new retail game. It won't be a day one buy, I'll have to see what the reviews say because if the past is anything to go on there won't be enough new content to justify the price. Plenty of other games coming out this fall/holiday.
