Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or:
Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game
Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II
Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order'
-------------------wait for it------------------
That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60.
Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that.
And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way?
Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today.
How the hell does this make sense?
You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards).
"Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift,
Your own Edition of The Taken King.
I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites.
BUMP if you agree with even one part of this.
--- out ---
EDIT:
Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example:
You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one.
Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade.
Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!!
Does that help even one of you naysayers get it?
Edit 2:
For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid):
Did slavery come to an end?
Did the holocaust come to an end?
Did the USSR come to and end?
Did the wall in Germany get torn down?
Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own.
Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right!
Edit 3:
Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else:
http://www.quotehd.com/imagequotes/TopAuthors/albert-einstein-physicist-insanity-doing-the-same-thing-over-and-over-again-and.jpg
I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it.
There will always be change. Who will do it first?
Edit 4:
You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument:
Bungie can rename the DLC to be
$39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions.
We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders.
* There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered.
Edit 5:
Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!!
Edit 6:
There were Alpha players
There were Beta players
Then came Day-1-ers
We can call the next gen the 'Vets'
Along comes Xmas Noobs
Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians
But this latest generation will forever be known as:
THE BUNDLE- BABIES
I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise.
If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!!

EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own.
Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities.
We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!

shut up, Meg.

Nothing is free ass chive

Lol at your phone analogy. If you buy an iPhone for example it costs 200 with a contract the next year that phone will cost 0.00 with a contract. That's how it works. Also games always have collector editions that give new players the original game plus dlc for the price of the original game. This is what happens when you are an early adopter of anything. I bought the Xbox one when it was 500 dollars. A year later people can buy it for 350. I like you payed for the early access to this game.
-
But you've gotten use out of your phone (using your metaphor). It was brand new, and no one else had it. Then it got old. Your buddy would have picked it up as a last-gen phone, or a "soon to be replaced" gen phone. The whining is unbearable. When you buy a new car (I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you've never done this) it loses half its value the second you drive it off the lot. In a year, your buddy could buy the same car, with more bells and whistles than yours, for thousands less than you still owe, never mind what you paid. Consumer beware. It's not Bungie's "fault". It's no one's fault. It's capitalism. Deal with it, or whine about it, I guess. I have NO problem with any of this. I'll get a couple of exotics that will help me level up quicker (then be bored quicker)? I'm good.
-
If anything make it where people who had the game 3 months after release can get collectors edition for cheap and people who didn't have it in that time can't get some of the new things unless they unlock it or something -pissed and strongly f***ed loyal guardian
-
Edited by jrobb1999: 6/17/2015 4:24:28 PMShould have just waited a year after the game came out then.
-
I know how u feel. I bought a new car 2 years ago, my sister got the same car brand new!, 3 days ago for almost half the price! I was wtf! So i went to the dealership to complain but they told me to go fck myself. Stayed crying all night long.
-
Your cell phone analogy is actually supporting their pricing model not supporting your argument. You get a new phone and upgrade and upgrade and upgrade and keep paying money to use their phone and keep getting a better phone. A new person can just buy the new phone and be in the same place you are. Also, are you seriously comparing a gaming companies pricing to the holocaust and slavery?
-
So if I pay to go to see a film at the cinema am I allowed to complain 2 years after when you can watch it free on the TV? Are Microsoft going to give me a refund because I bought the Xbox one on day one for £430 but it can now be bought for £300? If I go and buy some designer clothes can I complain when they're on the clearance rack in 2 seasons time? The answer to all 3 is no and the situation is completely the same with Destiny. You paid to get it at the very moment it was available, when demand was high, now demand isn't so high they're dropping the price to entice more people in. It's standard business. So either you don't understand basic business (stupid) or you think the world is made from rainbows so companies don't need to make money to survive (immature). So which one are you stupid or immature?
-
It is called.... Depreciation. WHY DOESN'T ANYONE UNDERSTAND?
-
Whiny babies....
-
games lose value. we choose to spend how much we do on them.
-
The hours and cash spent don't mean anything to Bungie.... :( they're crushing our faith in them. Even Planet Destiny wrote an article on it.
-
I'm going to have to pay $60 for it because I didn't buy the dark below, by the time destiny is dead, we will have spent $250+ on it.
-
So did you go on a tirade when you saw Halo 4 down at your local game store for a quarter of the launch day cost after it was out for a year? Because that's what you are doing now.
-
I agree 100% bro this is bullshit and anyone who doesn't get it is mindless
-
And you forgot to factor in that the way you sound that you will add in another couple hundred bucks in other games to find out they suck and come back to Destiny and in fact still pay what they want you to...or you can wait 6 months and indeed get it at a discount but be way back of the people that don't cry and buy the content and play the game...but one thing to remember is this game will carry on with or with out you so have a nice day and try not to complain or feel entitled to everything on earth
-
Sounds like someone wants a peanut butter and jealousy sandwich....
-
Brand new corvette = 70+ thousand...5 year old corvette= 30 thousand...get a life with all the complaining ....if you don't wanna play the game because noobs get the same content after a year then so be it....go get another game and stay off the app so I don't have to hear that your parents can afford it or your buger flipping job has you tight on cash....
-
-
That phone logic... LMAO

MONEY WHORES
Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!!
This happens all the time. Literally, constantly. Phone's that were $299 w/ new two year contract last year can be had for $99, buy one get one free, with qualifying new two year contract. Do you even consumer?
-
Go to a GameStop right now, ask for a used version of destiny. You can buy it for $10. Does that mean Bungie is to blame or that too? Is it just because the game is a year old now? How much does COD Ghosts cost? Prob about 50 cents.
-
Lol, paying 40 dollars is apparently in league with slavery. Gg m8.
-
I look at it this way. More Xmas noobs to kill in trials this year.
