Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or:
Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game
Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II
Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order'
-------------------wait for it------------------
That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60.
Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that.
And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way?
Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today.
How the hell does this make sense?
You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards).
"Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift,
Your own Edition of The Taken King.
I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites.
BUMP if you agree with even one part of this.
--- out ---
EDIT:
Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example:
You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one.
Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade.
Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!!
Does that help even one of you naysayers get it?
Edit 2:
For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid):
Did slavery come to an end?
Did the holocaust come to an end?
Did the USSR come to and end?
Did the wall in Germany get torn down?
Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own.
Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right!
Edit 3:
Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else:
http://www.quotehd.com/imagequotes/TopAuthors/albert-einstein-physicist-insanity-doing-the-same-thing-over-and-over-again-and.jpg
I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it.
There will always be change. Who will do it first?
Edit 4:
You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument:
Bungie can rename the DLC to be
$39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions.
We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders.
* There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered.
Edit 5:
Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!!
Edit 6:
There were Alpha players
There were Beta players
Then came Day-1-ers
We can call the next gen the 'Vets'
Along comes Xmas Noobs
Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians
But this latest generation will forever be known as:
THE BUNDLE- BABIES
I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise.
If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!!

EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own.
Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities.
We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!

Do you think CoD players moan when the previous iteration gets reduced in price before the new game. No. How about something more similar. I can buy all the DLC for World of Warcraft for a lot less than the hard players paid at launch. They don't moan either. It's the way the game industry works nowadays. Products devalue as time goes on. Destiny and its expansions will likewise

Why are people so poor on here?
-
Lets make a deal: I give you your money back, you reset your characters, you pay less for all three games, and as a bonus you also get: universal remote, an American shader, and a new dance. Enjoy.
-
-blam!- bungie I quit after I accomplished all the shirt content house of wolves had flawless 34- 3 characters and elder cipher x 3. Short content .
-
Boycott the game vote with your wallet. I know i am
-
-
-blam!-ing true my man. Bungie should really start reading their forums, as they said in the ViDoc. READ THESE FRICKING POSTS
-
Yes it sucks but honestly what did you expect? My lesson from this is: wait until destiny 2 drops and buy ttk plus 2 dlc (because they said after ttk there will also be 2 additional smaller dlc) in one package for a good price. Or skip the rest of Destiny all together. What do you get for 40$? 2, yes I repeat, TWO strikes ( and that's only for ps4) One, yes I repeat, ONE raid. Joke is on us.
-
Would you take the difference in price and start completely new?
-
-
Original Destiny game is a year old. The first DLC will be 9 months old and the second will be 4 months old. Companies always release Game of the Year Editions that include the base game and DLC's for a discounted price. This is a common practice that has been happening for a very long time. You got your monies worth and then some with time played. That is the part you get for buying something a YEAR earlier. If you are going to complain about this business model and a company making money off something they made and sold, you better never purchase anything ever again. There is a word we all know. It is called "capitalism". Capitalism works for the maker, not the consumer. As a consumer, you have two options. Shut up and buy the product, or pull up your pampers and quit gaming.

-
I agree with you.
-
Yeah, I'm not too happy about it. But it is what it is. I'm planning to go to Xbone anyways later this year when they release reverse comparability.
-
Noobs dont have battle scars...noobs didnt fight atheon at 28 for HOURS to see that -blam!-er fall...the way i look at it i paid 90 bucks for 22 WHOLE DAYS OF ENTERTAINMENT...hats the bargain of the century. ..plus, Destiny keeps me out of trouble : ) cant put a price on that
-
Dude -blam!- off for comparing a video game to some of these horrible tragedies over the course of humanity. That's absolutely pathetic. I don't necessarily agree with Bungie doing this either, but comparing to millions being abused and murdered? Get out you child.
-
Ok think of it like this; does your cable company give you better rates the longer you are a customer? In fact they increase your rates while giving new customers better deals. Companies are always more focused on bringing in new customers because they more likely to stick around, where long time customers (like many of you who're complaining) have a greater tendency to leave (which many of you are threatening.)
-
I don't mind paying for TTK, it costs more than I would like, but that's another topic. It's missing out on the bonus content that the collectors edition gets. I want the emotes, I want the class exotics; if these become available to everyone on 9/15 then I'm fine with it. If not, then it phucks over Year One players.

+20 Tears.

Edited by R merc G: 6/17/2015 8:17:59 PMDo I need to keep giving the same basic lesson in economics? If they sell TTK for $140, it won't sell to new players! Haven't you been playing all year anyway? TDB and HoW will be legacy content when The Taken King launches, essentially bringing zero actual value!
-
-
-
I see your point but remember, destiny doesn't have the same value as when we bought it. I can get the game now for £19.. And if bungie charged the new players £140 or whatever - nobody would buy the game. You've got to remember, they want to make money, they're a business. Think from their perspective guys
-
A game that was sold last year is cheaper than a game that was sold yesterday.

Dude. They want more people to play the game and with time comes money saving. The people that buy first and enjoy the experience for a year while the people that are buying it just now will be saving money as a result of lost time and efforts to get newbies to play the game.
