Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or:
Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game
Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II
Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order'
-------------------wait for it------------------
That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60.
Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that.
And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way?
Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today.
How the hell does this make sense?
You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards).
"Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift,
Your own Edition of The Taken King.
I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites.
BUMP if you agree with even one part of this.
--- out ---
EDIT:
Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example:
You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one.
Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade.
Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!!
Does that help even one of you naysayers get it?
Edit 2:
For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid):
Did slavery come to an end?
Did the holocaust come to an end?
Did the USSR come to and end?
Did the wall in Germany get torn down?
Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own.
Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right!
Edit 3:
Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else:
http://www.quotehd.com/imagequotes/TopAuthors/albert-einstein-physicist-insanity-doing-the-same-thing-over-and-over-again-and.jpg
I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it.
There will always be change. Who will do it first?
Edit 4:
You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument:
Bungie can rename the DLC to be
$39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions.
We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders.
* There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered.
Edit 5:
Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!!
Edit 6:
There were Alpha players
There were Beta players
Then came Day-1-ers
We can call the next gen the 'Vets'
Along comes Xmas Noobs
Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians
But this latest generation will forever be known as:
THE BUNDLE- BABIES
I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise.
If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!!

EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own.
Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities.
We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!
-
Don't think I will be buying it especially after how my freinds are pretty much sick of destiny now plus the price is ridiculous but we will see. I could buy another another game for that price and dlc as a whole is becoming a mess and it will just turn gamers away in the end plus why does it cost so much? You would have thought that any business looking to sell this would at least make it a suitable price.
-
They should have to pay full price for DLCs like the rest of us. Vanilla can be free but the $35 expansion pass and $40 TKK shouldn't be optional.
-
Business 101.

Business 101.
-
I hear you man. It is bs that they decided to go this way about it. You would think the people who have been here supporting this game all along would get the same or more than new players coming in but that's not the case, It is dissapointing.
-
you paid the additional money to play from [day you bought it] to Sept 15, 2015. People buying the combo don't get the [up to a] year of playtime.
-
So you're saying that even though Madden 2012 is 4 years old, it should still be 59.99? Or that when I bought a '00 Nissan altima it should have cost 13,000$. Your "logic" is illogical. Items depreciate in value over time. And on top of that, companies use promotions all the time to bring in new customers, but because its destiny, they're not allowed to? If you want to be a completionist, you're going to have to pay for it. Either get a job, and deal with it, or quit crying. If you want a prime example of why you're wrong... Borderlands 2+all DLC ever Borderlands the presequel+ all DLC ever. Together worth over 250$ All included in the handsome collection for a 60$ price tag. So glad I'm not poor.
-
Don't see the problem I buy a game brand new and pay full price or wait for the collector's edition a year or so later and get the dlc thrown in....not that the old dlc will even be relevant swords of crota no longer spawn I doubt the wolf's will by then the armour we upgrade now will be outdated then same goes for weapons...they are paying less and getting less access to the crota raid which everything will be outdated and useless and access to the prison of elders which again will be outdated...there experience will be nothing like ours has been especially if you was a day 1 player like me
-
The only thing that's filthy about this whole is that we would have to rebuy the entire game if we want the exclusive armor pieces, special notes, and exclusive shaders. That's a really big slap in the face to long time fans.
-
For all those who disagree, this has nothing to do with depreciation. It's business, and again Activision are screwing us. Well the longer term players.
-
I recently bought a new car for $20,000 and loved it. But a year later my friend goes and buys the exact same car for $17,000!!!! Wtf this is bullshit!!!!!
things decrease in value over time quit bitching
-
i can't wait to refer to the noobs as bundlebabies.
-
Mm it's a nice thought but too good to be true. I'll get Taken King and enjoy it I'm sure. Hopefully you will too.
-
Hear what you are saying man. But this game is just too many hours of entertainment that I find it hard to not justify the $40. At the end of the day I would agree they are screwing the veteran players over which makes me sad for the community but I'm too hooked to stop now. Just my two cents, agree or not but everyone needs to understand you don't take it out on other community members funnel your emotions and feedback towards bungie! Keep it real guardians and help your brothers and sisters out.

Please bump this

Though I can see why your mad, why complain about it! If you love the game why don't you want others to enjoy it as well! Sure, the price is kinda ridiculous, I can agree with that, but it is just a price. We already paid for the game we love, so why don't we just be happy that the price will allow more players to get into Destiny. I'm gonna take a few newbies under my wing when TTK comes out.
-
Interesting points I would have never thought about man. Great job on this. I like how u posted this.
-
Yes, this is so true. I completely agree with everything you have said. bump.
-
Seeing post like this makes me wonder do anyone really have a job?? It's just $40 for the dlc and $60 or $80 for the new players who wanna give it a shot. Either way $40/$60/$80 is not really a lot of money. Most of you gamers blow way more than that in a week on junk food and other BS purchases. Now a long time ago yeah that'll be a lot but NOW 2015- and beyond its not. Supply and Demand motherfvcker that's the way it is.
-
All games do this, where the problem is bungie discounted their own game and dlc too soon. Most of the industry at this point would sell the original game with all dlc so far, and have the expansion completely separate. Then after some time has passed from there would they include a bundle with all of it together. Bungie is clearly doing this in an attempt to grab new players and new players only.
-
Sometimes a point is so stupid and yet so thorough. That you can only stare at in wonder that somebody could put so much effort into being wrong.
-
Regarding phones. You buy your iPhone 5 at release for $200. Then a year later when iPhone 5s comes out they sell the iPhone 5 for $50 or $100. You paid more, earlier to have it earlier. If you wanted. You could've waited after Christmas for destiny vanilla to be sold for $30.
-
Go to sleep.
